25.01.2022 Bargain priced 8X10" enlarger available. I am helping with the dispersal of a collection of gear of a now deceased long term customer for his family. They have an old (estimated 1950s) 8x10" enlarger of unknown make. It might even be Australian made. But it is not a Lusca - it is better made than that. It has negative carriers and a diffuse light head - ie no condensors are used. (Personally I would convert it to LED) It has hand crank operation of the focus like a Dever...e. It includes a 12" apo ronar lens which is a little cloudy but looks like it would clean up OK. If you need an 8X10 enlarger this is an opportunity to score one at at about 1/10th the price of a Durst or De Vere as the family need to finish clearing the house soon. I nominated a price of $800 to ensure they get a quick sale. But if you do buy it please be sure can can remove it in a timely manner. Like all 8X10 enlargers this is big. Stands around 2m tall but does not look all that heavy. But it would be a 2 person job to move. Probably a small van will be needed to move it rather than a 4WD or station wagon. The buyer will have to arrange their own dismantling and collection. Located in Castlemaine, Vic. If interested PM me and I will provide the sellers contact details. PS Sorry about the crappy pics - I only had my mobile phone with me. (I know , the irony..... ) See more

24.01.2022 The Rolls Royce (or should that be Cadillac?) of field cameras - this Deardorff 8X10 has just come in. Perfect working order with new bellows recently fitted and a nice amount of genuine patina. $4700 for the camera plus $400 for the 21cm Plaubel Anticoma lens....

24.01.2022 Found this pic of when we were sorting out some Rollei stock a while ago. (It was easy to get once!)

23.01.2022 Of interest only to ULF enthusiasts will be this Schneider 210mm f5.6 Super Symmar XL wide angle lens for formats up to 11X14" at infinity. Faster, lighter and sharper than the 1950s design 210mm f8 super angulon it replaced. (Shown next to the smallest of the Super Symmar XL series - the 80mm which covers up to 5X7" format.

23.01.2022 This Widelux just arrived last week. As usual with these I decided to put a test roll through it to confirm it is in good working order. And yes, you CAN shoot vertical with these! :-)

12.01.2022 Despite buying/selling/playing with almost every known camera and lens over the last 40 years sometimes something comes into the store that still makes me stop and admire it. Such an item is this 480mm Schneider Apo-Symmar we received today. A monster of a lens suitable for 11X14" format. Shown here next to a 120mm apo-symmar 4x5 lens for scale...

11.01.2022 Our new website is now ready to go. Watch out for lots of esoteric and bizarre items as we finally sort through all those boxes of vintage and retro stuff we packed up when we moved out of the CBD store 10 years ago....

07.01.2022 OK we're getting close to finally doing what we've promised for so many years and listing all of the upstairs warehouse stock we don't have room for in the cabinets on the website. Starting with medium format - which would you like us to work on first? Non-TLR Rolleiflex? Fujica? Bronica S/S2/EC? Rittreck? Mamiya Press and TLR? Or...??? As a teaser here's one we found today - probably the best Rolleiflex SL66 available anywhere! https://www.cameraexchange.com.au//rolleiflex-sl66se-outfit

06.01.2022 I have spent the last few days culling junk stock from our upstairs warehouse area and finding the occasional gem along the way. This was the best one so far - pulled out of a "nothing over $50" box from the last clearout sale which was mainly full of junk Tokina lenses and dead light meters....... These DOUBLE Speed Panchros are later production (early 1960s) with larger coverage than the normal Series II Speed Panchros. It covers the 33 X 44mm format of the Fujifilm GFX50 easily at infinity even wide open as seen in this test shot.

06.01.2022 With some of these early Leica M lenses the correct lens hoods can be harder to find than the lenses!

05.01.2022 Like so many things the Leica 75/1.4 Summilux-M lens was only really appreciated when it had been discontinued in 2008.

04.01.2022 This recently arrived Leica M8.2 has my favourite black PAINT finish which shows a lovely patina as it wears....

03.01.2022 WE ARE OPEN TOMORROW! But a few things to note..... 1. We will be restricted to just four customers at any one time. Please don't all rush to be here at 11am! :-) 2. All customers must wear a mask and avail themselves of the hand sanitizer provided before handling any equipment. 3. You may have noticed a lot of new (ie old film era) stock being added to the web site recently. Much of this is not actually on display - the best way to secure such items is to inquire via the ...web site. 4. As we have taken the opportunity during lockdown to sort out our warehouse there will be a lot of interesting and rare items added over the next few weeks. Best just to check the web regularly. 5. During lockdown we got used to sleeping in :-) So in future our trading hours will remain at 11am to 5.30pm Mon-Fri and 10am to 2pm Saturdays. See more

03.01.2022 This 8X10 DeVere(?) vintage enlarger is still available in Castlemaine if anyone needs one. Now that the 25km limit is lifted Melbournites can travel to Castlemaine. You will need a van or a trailer to collect it though. Seller is keen to have it collected soon. $500 is all it will cost you...... Contact us for the sellers details if you are interested.

02.01.2022 One of the rarest lenses for the Nikon rangefinder system is this 2.5cm (25mm) wide angle Nikkor. In fact the last time we had one of these for sale was in 1985 in our City Square store!

01.01.2022 For all you Ultra Large Format photographers out there (and I know there are quite a few of you) remember the cutoff for Ilford's 2020 film run is Thursday 14th August. Ilford do one custom run each year for their HP5 and FP4 and Delta 100 B&W films in sizes larger than their normal 4x5, 5x7 and 8x10 range. This includes 11x14, 8x20 and even 20x24" I have just placed an order with the importers C.R. Kennedy Pty Ltd for some 11X14" HP5 and if you want anything we could probably take your request onto our order. No minimum quantity. Most come in boxes of 25 sheets.

01.01.2022 I just found this curio in the warehouse. A tiny 300mm f5.6 Hanimex/Promura tele lens for Nikon that is nearly the same size as a standard 50mm lens! Great for candid or spy shots. Mirror tele lenses were not very popular back in the film era as they lacked contrast compared to normal refractive optics. Now, with digital editing, contrast can be tweaked with just one or two mouse clicks so demand for the ultra compact versions has never been higher.
