25.01.2022 SYDNEY!!! Do you have an old camera lying around? Want to travel vicariously and assist young people in Kenya tell the world their stories? In conjunction with sotheycan.org.au we are collecting unused cameras in Sydney - now may be the time to clear out that bottom drawer of technology you haven't used for a while...

25.01.2022 Our young Victorian program manager, Guled Abdulwasi, has been busy cataloguing and sending out donated cameras far & wide this week - to Tom Price in WA, to Mornington Island in QLD, to the Fitzroy flats in VIC, and even as far as Kenya via Sydney. He's sure been busy!!!

24.01.2022 Perthians...with a car...needed to pick up 30 digital cameras from Midland Police Mon-Fri between 8 to 2pm....?? The opportunity may be there to shake a hand and pose for a photo, if that's your thing :) Otherwise a reliable person and vehicle is sufficient.

22.01.2022 Check out the latest news and events on the Camera Recycle Project website We've been having a lot of fun lately!

21.01.2022 This week's donations picked up from the collection box at Red Flair Photography in Balwyn, VIC. Thank you to all the donors who dropped their old and unused gear off here!

19.01.2022 Recently CRP facilitated a National Youth Week photography "tour bus" workshop with City of Wanneroo. Natalie Blom and James Morton facilitated - and aw shucks, once again some great feedback from our clients "Nat and James were absolutely fantastic, it was a very long day and must have been exhausting for them both. However, they did a great job in building rapport with young people and assisted them where necessary. I was very impressed with the way in which they interacted with the staff and young people. Fantastic workers, lovely people." (Rad, City of Wanneroo)

19.01.2022 Landers & Rogers Law Firm in Melbourne gave us a brief: "Some 12 year olds from Palm Island are coming to Melbourne with the Cathy Freeman Foundation - can you do something fun with them?" So, Camera Recycle Project employed three young Melbourne artists and over 2 hours we made a song "D Street" using fruit to create beats, sound effects by the kids, wrote the lyrics, and used a Go Pro to record footage to make this clip.... Amazing what you can achieve in 2 hours! We had an awesome time hanging out with these young ones, and we think this video shares the fun experience :)

18.01.2022 URGENT - need someone in Melbourne to pick up cameras in Bentleigh East (Officeworks HQ) and transport to Fitzroy this week...will pay for your time and love you lots and lots!!!! Puuhhleeease!!!

17.01.2022 15 young people from four communities - Woorabinda, Palm Island, Elcho Island and Tiwi Islands - won a trip to Melbourne for their school attendance. Camera Recycle Project facilitators Ben, Jade, Gum, Adim and Dut held a beat-making / lyric writing / digital media evening with lots of Nandos chicken, Mario Brothers with potato controllers and some awesome bonding. :)

17.01.2022 Check out the latest video clip collaboration with Cathy Freeman Foundation and Landers & Rogers Law Firm in Melbourne Students from Woorabinda, Palm Island, Elcho Island and Tiwi Islands achieved this in just 2 hours with a room full of strangers, and a round-robin style set-up where you could film, photograph, rap lyrics, write lyrics, work on the music video editing. It was AMAZING...we hope this music video makes these young people feel proud of where they're from and how much talent they have, and honoured we got to hang out with them in Melbourne.

06.01.2022 Some great feedback about CRP from Lee-Anne Smith (Founder & CEO of Halo Leadership Development Agency) "Your project was one of the most rewarding ever at Halo. Throughout the ups and downs of our Halo journey: funding some losses some wins, bureaucracy battles some losses, some wins, individual battles some losses, some wins. As we battle suicide, incarceration rates, deaths in custody and the demons of the stolen generation we thank you for our camera recycle photo galleri...es that have provided opportunities to tell a different story - the photos inform, inspire, make us laugh and sometimes cry but overall they are one of things that keep help keep us strong. You don't win an OAM, become a Telstra business woman of the year finalist, win the community service sector choice award, inspire a kid in care to win WA young person of the year because you did it alone. "If we see further than others it is because we have stood on the shoulders of giants." Thank you Jade and your vision for camera recycle for being one of those giants - you will always be a winner through our HALO lens." For more info on the remarkable HALO program check out www.facebook.com/haloleadership
