20.01.2022 Some do’s and don’ts for First Home Buyers. Lets get started before you lodge your home loan application! I’d like to help you create some good spending habits and at the same time learn how to eliminate the bad ones.... Let’s make a 6 week plan together to improve your position before you lodge your home loan application. We need to take some responsibility and be financially savvy if we are looking to invest into our future. We are all capable of investing and wealth creation. It just depends on our priorities and how much we are willing to sacrifice to get there. READY, SET, GO! 1. Pay down your credit card/s. If you have more than one, get rid of it, retain one credit card, make sure you pay it down to the bare minimum amount. 2. Pay out any personal loans you may have. 3. Increase your weekly/fortnightly savings by 25% minimum. Show genuine savings for the next 6 weeks, once your savings is deposited, it stays there, no or minimal withdrawals. 4. Go through all your direct debits, can you get rid of some? Foxtel, Netflix etc. 5. Killer reason for loan rejections: after pay/zip pay, two evil terms. Delete, Delete, Delete. 6. Eating out too often? Your Lender sees all your spending on your statements- eat out less, this will do good to your savings and your health at the same time. 7. Never use your credit or debit card when dining out at any Casino venue, restaurant, bar etc. It could be confused as gambling you could be flagged as irresponsible and a high risk applicant to your Lender. If you do dine at a Casino venue, use cash, but never withdraw cash from a ATM at a Casino. This can also be deemed as needing cash to gamble. Again irresponsible and high risk applicant. So there you have it. Some valuable tips to keep in mind for a good 6 weeks for First Home Buyers who haven’t lodged a home loan before. Let’s get this right!
