22.01.2022 Here’s a question that we get asked a lot: do you floss before or after brushing? Flossing first loosens the bacteria and food trapped between the teeth and under the gums. Brushing then removes the debris and delivers fluoride to strengthen the clean tooth surface. If you struggle with floss, though, we can show you other ways to clean between your teeth. Simply gives us a call on 4729 5777 to book a check up and clean with one of our friendly hygienists.

21.01.2022 Aspiration pneumonia is a lung infection that develops as you aspirate (inhale) food particles and liquid from the stomach or saliva from the mouth or throat. Since pneumonia bacteria and the COVID-19 virus may be present in the mouth, its really important to clean the teeth, gums and tongue every day to lower germ levels. 1. Wash hands for at least 20 seconds before flossing and brushing.... 2. Rinse and gargle for 60 seconds with a mouthrinse containing Hydrogen Peroxide. Look for rinses containing a concentration of 1.5%. 3. Floss then use a power toothbrush twice daily for at least 2 minutes on teeth, gums and tongue. Dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We want to help keep you safe, healthy and happy.

21.01.2022 Wed like to share some simple and straightforward tips for toothbrush hygiene in order to help you stay safe, healthy and happy. As well as washing your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before and after flossing and brushing, rinse your brush after using it and allow it to completely dry before using it again. Store it up upright and do not place it in a closed container. Always replace your brush after you have been sick and, if someone in your household is sick, that person should use a different tube of toothpaste. For the complete regimen please visit our website. Dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Were here to help!

21.01.2022 As health care providers, we are experienced in keeping surfaces meticulously clean and disinfected. Today, wed like to share with you some common household chemicals that you can use to stay safe, happy and healthy in your home. Its important to make a daily habit of cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, sinks, taps, tables, phones and keyboards. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advise that chemi...cal disinfectants such as bleach, alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are best at killing COVID-19. Household Bleach: Dilute cup of bleach in 1 gallon of cold water. Household surfaces that wont be damaged by bleach should get at least 10 minutes of exposure. Alcohol: A 70% alcohol solution has been found to be most effective in killing the virus. The solution should be left on surfaces for 30 seconds. Hydrogen Peroxide: Its typically sold in concentrations of 3% and can be used as is or diluted to 0.5% concentration. It should be left on surfaces for 1 minute before wiping. Its also used in dentistry as a 60 second rinse. It should go without saying that you should not drink or inhale any of these chemicals, and you should always follow the manufacturers safety and dilution instructions. Always wear gloves (and protective eye wear if possible) when preparing solutions and while cleaning. Do your research and stay safe!

20.01.2022 We see packaged foods with appealing slogans that say natures own or nice & natural but are they really good for our dental and overall health? Packaged foods often contain added or hidden sugars under different names so we may consume more than we think. There are over 50 kinds of sugar and the colour makes no difference white sugar, brown sugar, raw sugar, honey and maple syrup are predominantly comprised of sucrose, glucose and fructose molecules.... Product ingredients are listed by quantity from the largest quantity to the smallest so if any kind of sugar is listed in the first 3 ingredients, consider it a dessert.

19.01.2022 Whitening or lightening your teeth can give you a sparkling smile, but do you know which method is right for you? Whitening treatments are perfect for those who have teeth stained from smoking, tea or coffee. The solution penetrates the enamel and breaks down the stubborn stains inside the teeth. Lightening is an enamel micro-abrasion process which creates a smoother, more uniform and more reflective tooth surface. Its recommended for those with white spots, mottling or enam...el irregularities. Interested in finding out more? Call us on 4729 5777 for a complimentary consultation. Remember: our 10% off cosmetic services offer is still running until the end of September.

16.01.2022 There are so many options these days that choosing the right toothpaste can be confusing. Everyones dental needs are different so some toothpastes address gum disease while others help tooth sensitivity. There is a high strength fluoride toothpaste called Neutrafluor5000 Plus available at the pharmacy counter for adults and teens at high risk for tooth decay. A patient would be deemed to be high risk if they have: a dry mouth with low or poor quality saliva... a diet with frequent sugary drinks or foods sticky decay-causing bacteria gum recession with some exposure of the root surfaces braces for orthodontic treatment dexterity challenges or cognitive decline See more

15.01.2022 Good personal hygiene is more important than ever during the COVID-19 outbreak and that includes oral hygiene. The Journal of Laboratory Physicians reports that an intimate 10 second kiss transfers as many as 8 million bacteria and an unknown number of viruses from person to person. Practice meticulous cleaning of your teeth, gums and tongue every day to reduce the germ load. Avoid kissing someone who has an illness or an open sore/blister around the mouth.... We want to help keep you stay safe, healthy and happy. Dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Were here to help!

13.01.2022 Today were sharing simple mouthrinse tips to help you stay safe, healthy and happy. At this time, the CDC are only recommending rinses which contain Hydrogen Peroxide (at a concentration of at least 0.5%) to destroy the COVID-19 virus in saliva. We suggest Colgate Peroxyl or Listerine Whitening Mouthrinse which contain 1.5% Hydrogen Peroxide. These rinses are available at chemists and some supermarkets.... Its important to rinse for 60 seconds then spit out. Use twice daily. Dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Were here to help!

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Karen Evans our very Loyal patient of the month. Miss September will enjoy a gourmet hamper from Ottos Market Warrina .

12.01.2022 Sugar in processed foods & drinks has replaced salt & fat as healths public enemy #1 according to the UN World Health Assembly. It causes tooth decay and weight gain which leads to ill health. The WHO recommends limiting sugars to no more than 6 tsp or 24 grams a day.... If you read the nutrition information label on a 375 ml can of Coke, youll see there are 40 grams of sugar in the can. Since 4 grams equals 1 teaspoon, the can contains 10 teaspoons of sugar. If you wouldnt eat 10 teaspoons of sugar, would you drink it?

12.01.2022 Even the calmest amongst us have been stressed lately. If youre feeling overwhelmed, keep an eye out for signs of sore jaws, sensitive teeth and frequent headaches caused by bruxism. Bruxism or teeth grinding/clenching is a classic reaction to stress. Long term grinding or clenching can chip, wear down and crack teeth or fillings. Try to de-stress with yoga, facial massage and warm baths. And remember, give yourself a break from the news.... Your best friend is a custom-fitted bite guard called a night guard or occlusal splint which is worn at night. Its not sexy and it doesnt treat the underlying causes of bruxism but will stop you damaging your teeth and youll feel a whole lot better when you wake up in the morning. So if youve got a bite guard, please wear it at night. Dont let it gather dust on your bedside table. If you dont have a bite guard, have a chat with our dentists. Well be open again on Monday. More news on that soon!

12.01.2022 We know that it can be hard to fit in a visit to the dentist when you are flat out. With that in mind were now opening earlier and streamlining our hours. Well be here from 7.15am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 7.15am to 1.00pm. Call us on 4729 5777 to set up a time for your check up and clean or to take advantage of our current offer of 10% off all cosmetic services.

12.01.2022 We are looking for two new members of our team an Oral Health Therapist/Dental Hygienist and a Dental Assistant. We offer varied and interesting work in all areas of dentistry, opportunities for professional development and a social team culture. You will be keen to learn and grow with the team and be able to offer the WOW in customer service. Find out more at cameronandco.com.au or visit us on seek.com.au

12.01.2022 If there is one thing most of us feel right now, it is a lack of control. But there are still things we can do to ensure we are in the best possible condition to fight COVID-19. The healthier you are, the more likely the virus will stay in your upper respiratory system and not travel to your lungs. Try to:... Focus on the good things in your life to lower your stress levels Eat well or take nutritional supplements to boost your diet Control your blood pressure and blood sugar Get your flu shot Exercise daily Get plenty of sleep Quit smoking See more

11.01.2022 Saliva is the main body fluid which spreads the coronavirus when we talk, laugh, cough or sneeze. Physical distancing is important because the closer you are, the bigger the spray of large droplets while tiny droplets can reach you up to 4 metres away. But while saliva is a reflection of the bodys disease status, its also the defender of our oral health. Saliva stimulated when chewing is 60 times more powerful than resting saliva when it comes to neutralising acids from foods, plaque, dry mouth and reflux which damage teeth. So chew your meals well and chew sugarfree gum or raw foods between meals to stimulate saliva production for better teeth protection.

11.01.2022 Eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and lean protein is vital to our overall health but also can be a big benefit for our oral health. The effects of Vitamin C on the prevalence and treatment of periodontal disease known as gum disease have been studied in depth. One of the randomised clinical trials in 2018 looked at kiwi fruit which is high in Vitamin C, minerals and polyphenols. ... Researchers discovered that participants eating 2 pieces of kiwi fruit a day for 5 months had significantly reduced gum inflammation, compared with the control group. For years weve known that 5 veg & 2 fruits a day is good for us but now research says its good for our oral health too.

10.01.2022 It’s that time of the year where you might find yourself posing for end of year photos, party pictures and family portraits. One key to smiling naturally is to relax, take a deep breath and think about something funny that makes you smile. Remember to smile with your eyes too. Saying cheese is actually not the best idea; words that end in ah such as yoga, produce a nicer smile. You can also try tucking your tongue behind your upper front teeth when you smile. ... Also (and this probably goes without saying) make sure your teeth are clean! There might still be time to squeeze in a professional check up and clean before Christmas, but if not, let’s set up a time for the new year. Just give us a call on 4729 5777.

10.01.2022 If you can’t brush, chewing gum helps wash away food debris and neutralise an acidic mouth. But not all gums are the same. Gums sweetened with sugar are a risk for tooth decay while gums sweetened with Xylitol fight tooth decay. Minty sugar-free gums are fine but lemon, lime or fruit-flavoured sugar-free gums have citric acid which can dissolve tooth enamel over time. Do you have a specific question about your own oral hygiene habits? Simply gives us a call on 4729 5777 to book a check up and clean with one of our friendly hygienists.

09.01.2022 Whether you are visiting us for a check up or to create your dream smile, we are committed to ensuring your visit is as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Our team are welcoming, gentle and understanding, and aim to ensure you leave feeling protected and restored. Contact us today to choose a time that suits you. We look forward to looking after you.

09.01.2022 You deserve a spa day! Thats why we have partnered with Tropical North Day Spa to offer one fortunate winner a luxurious seven hour spa package. The complete retreat includes a warm stone body massage, manicure and pedicure, hair and scalp treatment, full body exfoliation and a relaxing lunch. Simply come and visit us at Cameron&Co and ask about our promotion for your chance to go into the draw to win this package valued at $795. The lucky winner will be announced at the end of July.

09.01.2022 Even as the coronavirus restrictions are starting to lift, most of us will continue to spend a lot of time at home. While we watch TV, text friends, play games and work on our laptops, many of us make frequent trips to the kitchen for snacks and drinks. Unfortunately this means we are putting ourselves at risk of tooth decay. Tooth decay is a diet-related bacterial disease. Its not just about how much sweet foods or drinks we consume but how often, for how long and when. You... can brush twice a day and STILL get decay, so wed like to share some simple tips for a tooth friendly diet. Limit distractions while you eat Eat meals and not more than two snacks a day Eat healthy foods not junk foods Keep sugary foods and drinks for special occasions (remember agave syrup and honey are sugar too) Drink mainly tap water Make the hour before bed sugar-free We are currently rescheduling appointments that were postponed while the practice was closed. Get in touch with us to make a time to check your oral health. Were here to keep you safe, happy and healthy.

09.01.2022 One reason people put off their check up is a fear of fillings. Thats why it is a relief to know that at Cameron&Co, we practice minimal intervention dentistry. This modern approach allows teeth to heal with the right saliva pH, the right diet, the right toothpaste and the right dental treatment including concentrated fluoride varnish and fissure sealants. It is the least invasive and the most patient-friendly treatment for preventing, stopping or reversing early decay.... Our commitment is to keep you comfortable, happy and healthy. To learn more give us a call or have a chat with our dental team at your check-up.

09.01.2022 Looking for healthy gift ideas? Our hygienists recommend the electric Philips Sonicare Electric Airflosser. This isn't a sponsored post and we're not selling them, but we do think the Airflosser is a great way to put a smile on someone's face this Christmas. It's cordless and easy to use: you just fill the reservoir with water, point and press to clean between the teeth. A stream of air with water droplets dislodges food particles and plaque where the brush can’t reach. It's ...terrific for folks who struggle with string floss or who just want to be 100% sure they're cleaning thoroughly. And with that in mind, we know it's a busy time of year, but consider booking yourself in for a professional check up and clean. Just give us a call us on 4729 5777.

08.01.2022 Veneers can give you the brighter, perfectly aligned smile youve always dreamed of. This is our client Sean. Veneers not only improved the look of his teeth, but improved the way they function. Made of high quality porcelain, veneers cover the front surfaces of your teeth so discolourations, chips and cracks disappear forever. They are highly resistant to stains from tea and coffee, are very durable and look fantastic for decades with good home care. They even eliminate toot...h sensitivity due to worn enamel. Call us on 4729 5777 for a complimentary consultation to find out if veneers are right for you, too. And remember, our offer of 10% off all cosmetic services runs until the end of September.

08.01.2022 Cleaning your tongue can be a frustrating experience if you have a gag reflex. However there are millions of bacteria that like to live on the tongue such as the bad breath bacteria. We now know that the COVID-19 organism can be prevalent on the tongue and as well as in the saliva. ... Its important to clean the tongue so here are some suggestions to help: Use a flat tongue scraper which has a lower profile than a toothbrush Open wide, take a big breath then scrape from the back of the tongue to the tip when you exhale Rinse the tongue scraper under running water after each stroke Store the tongue scraper upright to dry as a damp tongue scraper fosters germ growth

08.01.2022 Selecting a toothbrush is a bit like buying a car do you prefer an automatic or a manual one? With brushes, thats not where it ends because technique is everything. Power toothbrushes with round heads are used one tooth at a time, following the curve of the gumline and tipping in between teeth. Manual toothbrushing involves placing a soft brush at a 45 degree angle to the tooth and vibrating the brush in short back-and-forth strokes or small circles. Its important to brus...h for at least 2 minutes with a small pea-sized amount of low abrasion fluoride toothpaste and avoid heavy-handed scrubbing to prevent tooth wear. Remember: its not just what you use but how you use it. See more

08.01.2022 Over the past month weve been providing emergency care but were pleased to say (in accordance with Australian Dental Association regulations) that well be reopening the practice from next week to take care of your oral health, too. We want to assure you that we uphold meticulous standards as a QIP accredited practice and are committed to providing you with safe and comfortable care. The infection control safety standards in our treatment rooms protect both you and our team..., and include: Following the 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene Protocol Wearing sterile gloves, face masks, eye protection and scrubs Using risk-minimisation techniques such as pre-procedural rinses & rubber dams Using sterile instruments and devices Changing gloves & masks between patients or sooner if required Cleaning & disinfecting the treatment room surfaces & equipment between patients with TGA-listed disinfectants Cleaning, sterilising & tracking all instruments including dental drills Using disposable products where appropriate and never re-using materials intended for single use only Well be open Monday to Friday from 27 April. Please call 4729 5777 or email [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to book an appointment. Were here to keep you safe, happy and healthy.

05.01.2022 Chapped, dry lips are common problems in the cold, dry winter months. The next time you pick up your power toothbrush, try brushing your lips first before you apply toothpaste to clean your teeth. Exfoliating with a power toothbrush quickly removes dead skin cells, improves blood circulation and promotes a smoother appearance.... Your lips also need lots of hydration so remember to drink plenty of water as well. Dont forget to use Vitamin E lip balm with sunscreen to moisturise frequently during the day.

04.01.2022 Wed love to help create your dream smile just like we did for Nadia, Brierley, Sean and Bek. Whether you are curious about whitening and straightening or a total smile makeover, we can customise a package to suit your smile and budget. To make it even easier we are offering 10% off all cosmetic services until the end of September. Give us a call to book your complimentary consultation on 4729 5777.

04.01.2022 Vitamin D is an important nutrient which promotes the growth and maintenance of teeth and bones thus helping to reduce the risk of bone loss and bone fractures. We acquire it from adequate exposure to sunlight and from sources such as oily fish, eggs, fortified milk and cod liver oil supplements. Vitamin D also offers antiviral protection from flu or colds so researchers are optimistic that it might be a way to moderate the severity of viruses like COVID-19. Along with hand hygiene and social distancing, Vitamin D could prove to be another easy, inexpensive way to protect our dental health and overall health.

04.01.2022 Regular exercise is a great way to keep fit and it appears that its good for your mouth too. British and American studies have found that people who eat nutritious foods, manage their weight and exercise regularly are less likely to develop periodontal (gum) disease. Gum disease is the #1 cause of tooth loss in adults. Exercise helps to reduce inflammation in the body and that includes gum inflammation. So floss, brush, drink water, eat healthy foods and make exercise part of your daily routine.

03.01.2022 You deserve a spa day! We have partnered with Tropical North Day Spa to offer one fortunate winner a luxurious seven hour spa package. The complete retreat includes a warm stone body massage, manicure and pedicure, hair and scalp treatment, full body exfoliation and a relaxing lunch. Simply come and visit us at Cameron&Co and ask about our promotion for your chance to go into the draw to win this package valued at $795. The lucky winner will be announced before Christmas.

03.01.2022 When you make an appointment with us, remember to let us know about any allergies that affect you. Some people react to local anaesthetic or antibiotics, and others suffer from seasonal or food allergies. Perhaps less well known is an allergy to natural rubber latex. It is increasingly common in people who work with latex a lot, such as healthcare and foodservice workers. Rubber and latex are, of course, used routinely in a dental office, so here is how we keep our allergic p...atients safe: Your patient notes are suitably identified with latex allergic status We schedule you earlier in the day to lessen your exposure to airborne latex particles from glove powder The treatment room is prepared by staff wearing non-latex gloves who clean every surface and piece of equipment to reduce airborne latex particles We wear non-latex gloves, masks and we avoid using rubber dam, rubber mouth props, rubber polishing cups and syringes with rubber Whatever allergies or concerns you may have, please share them with us and we will work with you to provide you with the most comfortable care.
