16.01.2022 It's funny, to think that back in 1962, the Menzies Government amended the Commonwealth Electoral Act to enable all Indigenous Australians to enrol to vote in Australian federal elections. In the US it was forbidden for interracial marriage until 1967 and the first country to legalise same-sex marriage was Denmark back in 1989. We look back on these historic moments now and think how ridiculous it was for us to decide on what rights to give people and how we dictated them to... live their life. In 2017, the Australian government decided to waste $122 million dollars on a postal plebiscite to decide whether the people of Australia wanted to give the rights to same-sex couples to marry. It has now been decided and will hopefully be legalised sooner than later through Federal Parliment. I photographed Vanessa and Mel's wedding back in 2013. The love they share with each other is no different to the love I share with my wife or any other couple I have photographed. #loveislove #marriageequality
