25.01.2022 Can you guess what caused the discolouration in the roots of these wisdom teeth? At the same time as wisdom teeth are developing, many teens struggle with acne and may be prescribed tetracycline as a treatment. Tetracycline is incorporated into the developing tooth root and later shows as a dark striation. The intensity of the stain depends on the dosage and duration of treatment, as well as the patient’s age at commencement.

24.01.2022 Do you commonly check the ingredient list or nutrition information panels when shopping? This Dental Health Week the Australian Dental Association is focussing on hidden sugars in our foods. Sugar is frequently hidden in foods marketed as healthy. Look out for agave nectar, cane juice, corn syrup, dextrose, fructose, malt syrup, maltodextrin, maltose, molasses, rice malt, saccharose, sucrose, syrup... And remember, just because a product is "natural" i.e. maple syrup, honey, ...rice malt syrup - it does not mean the sugars are any less damaging than plain old sugar. Making smart choices at the supermarket makes healthy eating easier at home. https://www.camerondentalcare.com/dental-health-week-time-/

21.01.2022 This gentleman was involved in an altercation which displaced his front tooth down and back and wedged it firmly into his jawbone. This is known as a lateral luxation. Treatment included firmly pushing the tooth down out of its locked position in the jawbone and back up into the socket. The difference in position of the tooth before and after repositioning is obvious in the x-rays. The tooth was splinted in place for 3 weeks and a soft diet instructed. It is preferable that d...isplaced teeth are repositioned as soon as possible after the initial injury to keep the tooth nerve alive. Unfortunately, we didn’t see this patient until 12 hours after the injury, so death of the adult nerve was almost certain. We commenced root canal therapy within the first week and removed the ‘mummified’ nerve tissue in one piece. This ensures the tooth can maintain its position in the arch without infection and a prosthetic replacement is not necessary. See more

11.01.2022 What do you do when your tooth breaks at the beginning of a meal at one of Victoria’s finest, Brae Restaurant ? You enjoy your meal and wait until you’re back in Wodonga to see the experts at Cameron Dental Care, of course! We restored this tooth with a metal post in the existing root filling, before ultimately placing a crown. What a beautiful result! (Please rest assured that this tooth broke at the end of last year, in a pre-Covid time before travel or eating restrictions)

10.01.2022 It’s bring your dog to work day at Cameron Dental ! These three have been very busy weeding the back yard all morning and providing moral sup-pawt to our patients through the windows. After a quick lunch break they’re ready to get back to work for the afternoon. Well done boys

05.01.2022 Finally, our accreditation certificate is here! A few months ago Cameron Dental Care was fully accredited to the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. Whilst this is not compulsory we feel it is important to have confidence that everything we are doing is the best for our patients

05.01.2022 We sure are loving this rain ... but not so much the darkness! Unfortunately there has been another (unplanned) widespread Victorian power outage which leaves us unable to attend to our scheduled appointments today. We are able to take your calls on 60247966 but unfortunately cannot access the database with appointments and patient numbers. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and will be in touch when power is restored to reschedule your appointments at a time that suits you

04.01.2022 Veneers are are a great way to improve the appearance of front teeth, and resin veneers are much less invasive than their porcelain competitor. A disadvantage of resin veneers is that they are less strong and can chip with wear and tear. However, often chips can be quickly repaired in a single visit, as was the case with these two patients from this week

03.01.2022 Nothing better than a fresh fruit delivery from a happy patient
