15.01.2022 NOISE ALERT Residents around Newcastle, please be aware that the Australian Army will be conducting training over the next week in our area. There will be h...elicopters flying at night and early in the morning, at a low altitude. Please ensure you let your family, friends and any neighbours know that this training will be occurring. This training is part of #AusArmy's regular training schedule and is designed to ensure #OurPeople are operating at the highest level of capability to respond where required, to support Australia's national interests. These activities may result in disturbances to local residents. This disruption will be minimised wherever possible. You should not be alarmed if you see low-flying helicopters or hear the associated noise. They appreciate the support of the local community during this important training period. The training is being conducted in a manner that accounts for COVID-19 restrictions and good health management processes. Individuals with concerns should contact Defence via: 1300 333 362. https://www.army.gov.au//australian-defence-force-training

01.01.2022 Variety the Children’s Charity and City of Newcastle council are currently working in partnership on a community project to design and build a new Variety Livvi’s Place inclusive playspace, as part of the Foreshore redevelopment. The inclusive playspace will be used by children and families in our local community, therefore Variety and the City of Newcastle would love to get your thoughts on what’s important to you when you visit playspaces. They really want to include you ...in the initial design and journey to a new inclusive playspace, so that ALL families can have fun and enjoy the space. Part of Variety’s role is to undertake community consultation in the early stages of the project. This is primarily done through an online survey and stakeholder workshops. The workshops go for around 45 mins, they’re fun and designed specifically for all people to participate and contribute to. There is also a Friends of Variety Livvi’s Place Newcastle Facebook page we encourage everyone in the community to join, to share information and keep up to date on the project. Please spread the word with your family and friends, as the more input Variety and City of Newcastle have, the better and more bespoke the playspace will be for our community. Facebook Live session next Thursday 2 July and online forum on Wednesday 8 July to talk about the project and speak with the community about what’s important in the playspace. Details to register can be found in this link https://www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au//Reimagine-Newcastle-Harb
