03.01.2022 Michael Roy Whitney AM is an Australian television personality and former Test cricketer, who played in 12 Test matches and 38 One Day Internationals. 2009, Mike was inducted as a life member by the South Sydney Rabbitohs for his contribution in being a Director and Deputy Chairman on the Football Club Board in the critical period during the club’s battle for reinstatement to the competition between 1999 and 2001. Since retiring from cricket, he has worked in the television m...edia. Since 1994, Whitney has been the host of Sydney Weekender. His contributions to community cricket following retirement has been operating as club President for Randwick-Petersham for 18 years. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Baggy Blues, the ex-NSW players association, among other community projects. For this and many other community efforts Mike was nominated and received and AM (Order of Australia) on the Queen’s Birthday list of this year.
