Minister Greg Hunt MP has pledged $2 million for updated natural ...therapy reviews to determine whether "certain" therapies should be eligible for subsidy through the Private Health Insurance rebate. This news comes just days after the ban to 16 natural therapies rebates came into effect on 1 April. Well done to all of you who wrote to make this happen! Dr Kerryn Phelps MP however, is urging the government reverse its ban while the review is undertaken. "My concern is the government knows this has been an unpopular move but they are kicking the problem off into the long grass. she said. Read more here: http://bit.ly/updated-natural-therapy-review

24.01.2022 Do you use natural skincare products? Have you ever stopped and thought about what you are putting on your skin? So many conventional skincare products contain so many nasties these days such as parabens and phthalates. I like to make sure that what I put on my skin is going to nourish not damage it, and this is my go-to cleanser/toner/moisturiser! This witch hazel and aloe vera toner is free from nasties (alcohol, parabens, phthalates) and is full of nourishing organic ingredients!

23.01.2022 Just be cautious when eating strawberries from the supermarket. To be even safer, try buying berries direct from a local farmer. There are so many strawberry farms here in Perth, and many of them are the pick your own style where you can get kilos upon kilos of fresh berries for so cheap!

Naturopathy has so many amazing tools for helping with sleep be it herbal medicine in liquid extract form, herbal infusions or teas, nutritional supplements such as magnesium, or diet and lifestyle changes. Here is one of my favourite liquid herb formulas for sleep! Passionflower and Chamomile are my go-tos in clinic for anything sleep or anxiety related, they work so beautifully together. They are very calming and relaxing, helping you to fall asleep quickly, and they are mildly sedative, helping you to stay asleep through the night. If youre having any sleep troubles and would like to give Naturopathy a try, Im in the student clinic for another 5 weeks so feel free to send me a message and I can book you in! Its only $20
20.01.2022 v i t a m i n d Im enjoying some lovely sunshine after a long day at the student clinic, getting my daily dose of Vitamin D Such an important nutrient for hormones, bones, skin, immune health and so much more! Vitamin D is used for so many functions in our body, yet so many people are deficient here in Australia! Dont be afraid of the sun in small doses, aim for around 10-15min out in the sun each day, with skin exposed (at least arms and legs) and no sunscreen... (it stops your skin from producing vitamin D) See more

19.01.2022 Just whipped up a batch of kale chips to munch on while I watch a movie. Its just kale leaves, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and salt! Massage it all together in a bowl, lay it out on an oven tray and bake at 180C for about 10 min. So easy and so delicious! Great way to cut down on carbs while still getting a salty snack, and also helps to get that bit of extra green veg into your diet.
15.01.2022 Love this #lowcarbdiet food pyramid posted by @health_with_bec full of all my favourite things As you can see, a low carb diet isnt all bacon and cheese! Theres a huge emphasis on wholefoods and veggies! Following a low carb, high fat diet has helped me so much with getting to a healthier weight, improving my skin health, balancing out my hormones, and increasing my brain function!
15.01.2022 I heard the news today that the government were surprised to hear that scrapping natural medicine rebates within private health was controversial. Our letters a...nd our protests seem to have created a little wave. Apparently there are key people consulting with the government on this matter currently, trying to get the decision reversed. We need to keep up the momentum of contacting our members of parliament so they bring this up at their next meeting in #canberra Please spread the word. Get your patients to write letters about how natural medicine has transformed their health. Write letters as a practitioner and consumer. Let your private health insurer know you're not happy about these changes too. Lets create a #grassroots movement and allow our patients to retain their ability to claim for natural medicine services. #spreadtheword #australia #naturopath #naturopathicmedicine #naturalmedicine #yourhealthmatters #yourhealth #stayhealthy #prevention #preventativehealth #preventionisbetterthancure #australiangovernment #memberofparliament @wardle.jonathan

12.01.2022 ~CLEAN 15 AND DIRTY DOZEN~ What is the Clean 15 and the Dirty Dozen? ... This is a list that reflects the pesticide residue content on fresh produce. The clean 15 are fruits and vegetables that have significantly lower pesticide residue so are relatively safe to eat non-organic. The dirty dozen, however, are 12 fruits and vegetables that have a very high pesticide content so its important to get these organic. Buying all organic produce can get quite expensive so its very handy having a list like this, showing the items that are safer to purchase non-organically. Whether you buy organic produce or not, try to always buy locally, support your local farmers, and eat whats in season

11.01.2022 Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my morning coffee is something I hear all too often. If you wake feeling unrefreshed or find it hard to get out of bed in the morning, don’t worry, you are not alone! But this is far from normal. When I say ‘normal’ I really mean ‘optimal’ as it is extremely common for people to suffer from extremely low energy but they just assume that it’s the way life is meant to be! There are so many factors that could be the cause of your low energy, I recommend seeing a qualified practitioner to get to the bottom of it and have you bouncing off the walls again in no time!

You could roll them into balls and press with a fork to make them look nicer, I was super keen to get them in and out of the oven so I did it the messy way Bake at 180C for about 10-12min.
