24.01.2022 It’s true, running can be good for your back! A recent study on 99 people aged 25-35 showed that the runners had stronger, and larger(by volume and height) intervertebral discs. More evidence that getting active is key!

23.01.2022 He was a bit camera shy but eventually got there and back. A novel way of getting back some confidence!
23.01.2022 I've seen a couple of "mum-to-be's" over the past few weeks, and this blog post came up on Monday from the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Hopefully it can help to answer some questions...

21.01.2022 I think that this video sums up this issue well... Although I am a bit disturbed by the little man running on the treadmill - I think I need to change my uniform!
19.01.2022 The key to studies such as this is trying to marry up (or not) the injury with the scan or X-ray. That is to say, having a thorough examination to try to work out the relevance that any changes may have on your symptoms is most important. Combining that with up to date knowledge will help patients achieve the best possible outcome.
19.01.2022 Running is almost certainly great for lots of things (Your heart and lungs, muscles, mental health etc etc), and it may even be good for your knees. This article talks about some issues that may be of interest to you, and also other things that Ive linked to in posts below. The take home message, is slow and steady and listen to your body. Consistency is key!
19.01.2022 This might be an interesting watch tonight...
18.01.2022 This popped up on my Facebook feed. Ive had this discussion with several people over the past month is so (you know who you are). Hopefully this video will help...

17.01.2022 Just another brick in the wall that says keeping strong has its benefits. It will be interesting to see whether or not the increased injury rates seen in the Bundesliga will be mirrored in social sport here, but my bet is that it will! Long story short... if youre intending to play football, soccer, netball or other athletic endeavour, and havent been training during the lockdown, now is the time to start.

12.01.2022 Do you know someone who suffers from Osteoarthritis of the hips and/or knees? Do you think that they would like to have less pain in their hips and/or knees NEXT christmas? The program involves only six weeks of twice weekly specific exercise, and learning more about their body. The original scientific trial was originally tested on 10,000 people in Denmark, and since then 40,000 people have participated throughout the world. Im one of the few who have been trained to deliver this program. Please give me a call if you would like to learn more.
10.01.2022 Sending out a message, hoping that youre all going well, and giving an update on "Cam Johnson Physio". Its not "business as usual", but Im open for business. Its far from "usual". Im concerned for the health and wellbeing of our community, and for my family and parents, and yours too. Im taking all of the normal "Infection control" measures, plus also few more (e.g. - keeping the windows and doors open for better ventilation (sorry if its too cold, or too hot), cl...eaning the used gym equipment between patients, and changing sheets/linen and washing the bed down between every patient). Thank you for observing all of the recommended strategies to combat the spread of infection by advising me prior to your appointment if youve been overseas in the last fortnight, have symptoms, or have been in close proximity to anyone diagnosed with Coronavirus. A few things that Im considering are: 1. Telehealth consults - i.e. taking consultations through Skype/video conferencing. This is not rebatable by medicare, DVA or private health funds. However, if you are symptomatic, or in "quarantine" then it may be something that you may want to do. 2. Creating gaps between patient consultations to minimise contact between patients. 3. Extending treatment times to allow people to utilise my gym facilities for their rehab (if gyms are closed). However, this may conflict with point 2. 4. Im currently working on a new website that will be easier for the new patient process. Please let me know if there is anything else that you think that I could do to help you in this regard - Im quite flexible with how I provide my service. Its not business as usual - but still open for business - just in a (slightly) different way. All the best, Cam

07.01.2022 Introducing Cam Johnson Physios favourite Firefighter, Gym owner, black belt, master craftsman, hero, born on a lighthouse, comedian, and the "muscle" whenever I need anything heavy moved. Have a listen to his incredible story. Note: I probably exaggerated the "comedian" bit
07.01.2022 There is lots of information about low back pain all over the internet. Indeed, the way I would treat someone who is suffering LBP is different now than it was twenty (even ten) years ago.
05.01.2022 I love the graphics in this, and years of experience tells me that this is quite accurate. What they didnt mention (I think mainly because they were talking about performance), was that braking force (they briefly discuss this) is significantly related to increased injury risk in recreational runners.
04.01.2022 This story has a happy ending!
