24.01.2022 Edmund's Essex acoustic guitar is finished and ready to go home. I reglued the lifting bridge, upgraded the nut and saddle from plastic to bone, fitted new tuners and gave it a good clean and polish. For a guitar in the lower price bracket I'm very impressed with how well this one performs; it's comfortable to play and has a bright sparkling tone. #sxguitars #acousticguitars #bonenut #bonesaddle #guitarsetup

22.01.2022 When Edmund dropped his Essex brand guitar around he mentioned the edges of the bridge were lifting. I decided to remove the bridge and reglue it and I found what I suspected. Many guitar manufacturers apply finish inside the bridge glue line to make it easy to produce a clean finish. Unfortunately this prevents wood to wood contact under the entire bridge area so a visible gap will be noticeable after some time. I will remove the finish out to the edge line you can see and reglue the bridge using PVA glue. #noshortcutsallowed #acousticguitars #guitarrepair

22.01.2022 Well, I think I can say that my experiment was a complete success! I mixed the rosewood dust with epoxy and used it to fill in the missing bits of wood on the bridge of the Terada I'm restoring. Now that it's sanded and polished I'm blown away by how good it looks! #guitarrestorer #acousticguitar #experimentingpaysoff

22.01.2022 The pickguard on Edmund's Hummingbird has lifted over time, so using heat and a thin spatula I have very gently removed it. I will now flatten the pickguard again, clean and reglue it. After that it will just need a setup then it will be ready!

22.01.2022 Te Kawai's Yamaha is finished; I removed the old damaged bridge and installed a new one, then set it up with medium action and gave it a good clean up. Can't wait for her to see it!

20.01.2022 Joel's Gibson Les Paul Special has seen its fair share of action over the years and has been heavily modified to suit Joel's preferences in a guitar. He's asked me to perform a fret level and dress on it; he also wants the wiring cleaned up as the pickup selector switch still functions, so I'll take that out and rewire the bridge pickup straight to bridge volume and tone then to output. Let's get to work!

19.01.2022 In order to ensure a guitar plays as nicely as possible all frets must be level. Here I am using specially designed straight bars to "rock" frets in order to determine which ones need filing. You can hear the clicking in this video, which means the middle fret it's high and needs to be leveled and recrowned. 15.01.2022 As you turn the volume down on your electric guitar it is natural to lose a bit of tonal clarity due to the increase in resistance on the potentiometer's part. A treble bleed circuit installed between lug 1 and 2 on your volume pot allows high frequencies to pass through as volume is decreased. I upgraded the pickups with a set of Fender Texas Specials, replaced the bridge and upgraded the tremolo block with a solid brass block, fitted new Kluson vintage style tuners, put in a new five-way switch and replaced the output jack plate with a new one. Terada owned a factory in Nagoya which produced guitars for Epiphone, Gretsch and Steinberger. First up is Craig's Tanglewood acoustic which is in for a basic setup, then there is Dean's more-metal-than-metal Dean Razorback which also needs a basic setup and a good clean. Next up is Nick's Fender Telecaster which will receive a basic setup, and finally we have Kieran's Vantage which I will be fitting a new set of pickups to as well as a new roller bridge.

02.01.2022 I have finished working on Joel's Gibson Les Paul; I performed a fret level and dress and cleaned up the control cavity wiring. I removed the pickup selector switch which was redundant and decided to install new 500k pots, but decided to change the tone pot with a 250k as I wasn't getting much 'sweep' out of the 500k. I'm happy with how this turned out and I'm certain Joel will be happy also.
