07.01.2022 OUR INDIGO WORKSHOP FILLED WITHIN MINUTES !!! We are planning a second workshop, for the 29th and 30th August. Message me if you’re interested. For our first ...workshop since the lockdown, Cathy Moon will teach a second follow up on indigo dying and shibori on paper, fabric, wood and leather. it is suitable;e for all levels of experience and there's no need to have attended the previous workshops. We can accommodate up to eight participants with social distancing. The dates are: Saturday and Sunday 8th and 9th August 2020, 9.30am to 4.00pm. (Now full) The fee is $300.00 plus a materials levy of $20.00 to be paid to the tutor. A deposit of $75.00 will secure a place, (cash, credit, cheque or direct deposit). Spend two days experimenting with Indigo Shibori on paper, fabric, wood and leather. The emphasis for this workshop will be on experimentation with different Shibori techniques including itajime, bomaki, arashi and stitching. For those wanting to go beyond the basics you will be introduced to more complex techniques including arashi woodgrain, Hotari, and reverse twists. You will be encouraged to combine techniques to develop your own unique shibori paper and fabric. You will also have the opportunity to experiment with indigo dying on small wooden objects and leather. Three Indigo vats will be available to use, full, medium and pale strength. Expect to make a selection of papers, wooden book covers, leather and fabrics that you can use for reference or individual projects. All levels of experience are welcome and you will have the opportunity to work on individual projects. The only requirement is that you come prepared to have fun learning new skills. Cathy Moon obtained her Bachelor of Education from the University of New England and has taught Textiles and Design at both High schools and TAFE. Her formal studies in Textiles led to an in-depth study of fabrics, dyes and shibori techniques. She has taught extensively throughout Australia and has exhibited at The World Shibori Symposiums in Paris and Hong Kong.
