The free transport service aims to overcome the distance and isolation some residents face when it comes to accessing vital services. Highly trained volunteer drivers will be taking eligible residents to their health care appointments and planned activity group sessions. In preparation for the service’s launch, RFDS Victoria and REDHS are seeking your input! 21.01.2022 We were thrilled to officially launch our new Community Transport service on Monday! The Community Transport service was developed by REDHS in partnership with ...Royal Flying Doctor Service and provides eligible clients with free transport to health appointments and social support group sessions. The service recognises that people in rural communities can face additional barriers to access health care due to a geographically spread population and limited transport options. To be eligible to use the service, clients must live within 20km of Rochester and be attending an appointment within the vicinity of Echuca, Bendigo or Shepparton. These appointments can include health appointments, such as specialists, hydrotherapy, cancer treatments, physiotherapy and GP visits, as well as planned activity groups, social support groups and certain exercise classes. Clients must also have either a pension, concession or DVA card, however local residents who do not have one of these cards but are in need of this service are encouraged to get in touch with the Community Transport team, as exemptions are available.

Flying Doctor Community Transp...ort is a free transport service providing eligible clients with transport to health appointments and planned activity group sessions. The service has been operating in Heathcote since 2018 and, thanks to the support of Rochester and Elmore District Health Service, is proud to be expanding to Rochester later this year. Our volunteer drivers are the heart and soul of the program, connecting isolated community members with vital services and forging lifelong friendships while they do it. Full training and support is provided, and strict COVID-safe protocols are in place to ensure client and driver safety. 17.01.2022 NURSE-LED PALLIATIVE CARE CLINIC TO OPEN IN ROCHESTER The clinic will become the first nurse-led palliative care clinic in the Loddon Mallee region. A new palli...ative care clinic in Rochester will help more patients in the Campaspe region receive end of life care in their own home. Bendigo Health will run the nurse practitioner-led clinic the first of its kind in the Loddon Mallee region in conjunction with Rochester and Elmore District Health Service (REDHS). The service will begin in March and will have capacity to see up to 10 people on a given day. Bendigo Health palliative care nurse practitioner Anita Wild said the clinic will connect patients with specialists earlier on in their palliative care journey. This clinic will help keep patients at home for longer and optimise their journey to ensure they have the education and know how to take care of themselves in a crisis situation at home, she said. The clinic will provide symptom management and early interventions for pain, nausea and psychosocial support for patients and their family. REDHS CEO Karen Laing said removing the burden of travel to Bendigo would encourage more families seek palliative care support. She said the clinic will be a good supplement to the service REDHS currently provided. We already have palliative care services for people who require end of life care in the hospital setting or our residential aged care facility but many people chose to and would like to manage their diseases and ultimately pass away at home, she said. Patients will require an MBS referral from their GP or specialist to access the clinic. Learn about coronavirus and talk with others. Reassure young children using age-appropriate language. Where possible, keep up normal daily routines, such as eating and exercise. Arrange to work from home. Ask your child’s school to supply assignments or homework by post or email. Do things that help you relax and use isolation as an opportunity to do activities you don’t usually have time for.
