23.01.2022 WARNING! As the weather gets warmer, we and our pets are spending more time outside where there are possible dangers which may not be too far away. Snakes are becoming increasingly more and more active which means we will see them slithering around more and more as we edge closer to summer. Australia has some of the most deadly snakes in the world, and these could easily kill a household pet with just one bite. Please help protect yourselves and your pets from possible snak...e bites: - Make your backyard less appealing by keeping the grass cut short - Remove any piles of garden rubbish, branches or other assorted materials, such as, corrugated sheets, tyres, wood piles etc. - Move your shoe rack inside the house - Avoid leaving pet food out all day - Minimise water sources in your yard - Build a snake proof fence around the entire property - When out walking keep your pets on a lead and keep them away from long grassy areas Keep your local veterinary clinics emergency contact number with you at all times in the unfortunate event that your pet does get bitten. If you see a snake on your property, KEEP CALM, remove your pet and yourself from the area and contact your local council who will be able to assist you in locating the local snake catcher to sort it out for you. If you are in Campaspe Shire you can call Ben Barcham 0447 242 724 or Tania Dowsett 0409 575 164

15.01.2022 26.11.2020 update Adopted Jingles is a very sweet lady who enjoys mooching about at her own pace. Unsure about sharing her space with other cats, Jingles would prefer having a house to herself. In her younger days Jingles had the misfortune of somehow injuring her front right paw which has left her with a bit of a bony deformity over her carpus and metacarpals. This means she cannot fully extend the leg and her paw turns inwards when she walks. Jingles feels no pain in t...he paw and has adjusted to her quirky cat walk very well. If you have room in your heart and your home for Jingles please give the shelter team a call 5480 3005 to book an appointment to meet this special lady. Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, FIV tested negative, flea and worm treated - Adoption fee $103 + council animal registration fees Adoption rooms open 7 days Via Appointment: Monday - Friday 10am - 12pm & 2pm-4pm Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 10am - 12pm

12.01.2022 WOW that was a hot one yesterday, and whilst the temperature has lowered a little bit the week will continue to be hot with summer almost officially here please keep your pets cool, here are some handy tips to help: - Have extra bowls of water around (in case on accidentally tips over). - Fill takeaway containers with beef or chicken stock, freeze overnight then give them out to your pets during the day. - Place ice cubes in water bowls, but be careful as some pets will avoid... drinking the water if they are unsure of the floating ice cubes. - Fill a water bowl half way and freeze overnight, then top up with water the next day before you put it out for your pets. - Ensure there is extra shade outside using shade cloths and umbrellas. - Set up a shell paddling pool when you are home. - ALWAYS walk your dog in the early morning or late evening. - NEVER leave your pets in cars, even with the windows down - they can die within 6 minutes from heat exhaustion. - Allow your pets inside to share the air-conditioning or fan. If you think your pet is suffering from heat stroke please call your local Veterinarian straight away! See more
