17.01.2022 This painting is of a one month old Squirrel Glider joey. It was painted by Clare, the mother of our dedicated zoology student Thomas. It is based off a picture of Momo. Momo is a young male Squirrel Glider and was Thomas' first Squirrel Glider joey being born at his property in the Dandenong Ranges.

16.01.2022 Check out this cheeky possum ! It is little Peni who arrived from Swan Hill, via Wagga Wagga earlier this year. Here she is waiting for an almond treat as she does every morning when I check on her, top up her water and pick up her plate.

10.01.2022 Watch out gliders, dangers lurk in the forest. Last night our secretary Thomas found a tail. This belonged to a Yellow-bellied Glider, the Squirrel Glider's larger forest cousin. A freshly discarded tail is characteristic of an owl kill, the tail is to bony so they remove it after the owl has made its kill. While it can be unsettling such signs are encouraging they tell us the ecosystem is at work, Yellow-bellied Gliders are being hunted by Powerful Owls, their natural predator.

03.01.2022 Another gorgeous glider!

03.01.2022 Tails tellin' a story! Feeding time at the sanctuary saw several extra tails hanging or dangling from female pouches.

02.01.2022 Skittles our sweet little Sugar glider retiree is pictured enjoying a special supper of sweet corn, pear, almonds and honey. She's lucky as the others, Squirrel gliders, are having their weekly 'starve night'.
