22.01.2022 On Monday 9/10B and our student leaders participated in the climate change conference with 18 other schools from around the state. The conference was held via Zoom and our students did a wonderful job engaging with the technology and different presentation mode. Our students have been participating in a wildlife monitoring project that was extremely insightful into the native wildlife populations and species in 3 different areas within greater Campbell Town. 30 cameras were placed across 3 locations and wildlife were monitored for 4 weeks. Students then spent time identifying each animal on every camera. This data will be used in future to further inform development in our region.

16.01.2022 Today the Grade 2 class read to our school animals. Thank you Ms Bennett and the older students from Grades 10, 11 and 12 who brought the animals in to share with us. The animals were very well behaved and enjoyed listening to us read. We would LOVE the opportunity to do this again!

15.01.2022 "It's great if a kid finds manipulating numbers comes naturally, or starts reading at age three. But it's just as wonderful if a child has a real sense of when ...things are out-of-place and likes organizing, or loves working with wood, or has a knack for growing things, or a seemingly innate sense of the right thing to say when someone is sad." Idzie Desmarais #neurochild #childdevelopment #lifelonglearning

15.01.2022 9/10B enjoyed our first excursion for the year on Friday. Students travelled to Winton for a trees on farms day presented by Darcy and Kate from Forestry Education Foundation. Our students learned how to measure the height of trees, identify hollows as habitat homes, removed tree guards and planted salt bush to stabilise the dam bank. We took samples from an established native planting around one side of the dam to identify the plant species back at school A wonderful learning experience in challenging weather conditions.

14.01.2022 RU OK Day activity in Prep/1 B yesterday. We read Under the Love Umbrella, drew pictures of who would be under our love umbrellas and all contributed to collage our class umbrella. Such a gorgeous book with a lovely message: no matter what challenge they face, they can always rely on the love umbrella above them.

We returned to the park for a picnic and play and enjoyed an icy pole treat to top off a wonderful day.

08.01.2022 We don't need to tell you how crazy this year has been. You’ll notice that celebrations and activities usually occurring at this time of year will be done diff...erently. Including remembering our COVID-safe behaviours and following Public Health advice. Celebrations and activities will look different from school to school based on its size and the facilities they have available. But please remember the most important thing is keeping each other safe. Whatever your school has planned, please support them as they try to hold these special celebrations safely. #LearnersFirst #TasGovEducation
