11.01.2022 REDEVELOPMENT NEWS #66 | DID YOU KNOW? Once complete, the extension of the Campbelltown Hospital Cancer Therapy Centre will have used 150 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 860 cubic metres of concrete! The LINAC bunker alone, which houses the linear accelerator (a machine designed to administer radiation therapy to cancer patients) contains 100 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 520 cubic metres of concrete. This includes 1.2 metre thick reinforced concrete walls and a one-metre thick roof, which includes a two-metre thick primary beam radiation barrier. Once delivered, Campbelltown Hospital will offer the highest level of publicly accessed cancer therapy in the region. #CampbelltownUpdate

This is what 43 years of progress, commitment and investment into our local health care system looks like. 1977: Campbelltown Hospital first opened (Building A with 120 beds. "I love working with a wide variety of patients throughout the day to achieve their goals of returning home safely and getting better.
