11.01.2022 REDEVELOPMENT NEWS #66 | DID YOU KNOW? Once complete, the extension of the Campbelltown Hospital Cancer Therapy Centre will have used 150 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 860 cubic metres of concrete! The LINAC bunker alone, which houses the linear accelerator (a machine designed to administer radiation therapy to cancer patients) contains 100 tonnes of steel reinforcement and 520 cubic metres of concrete. This includes 1.2 metre thick reinforced concrete walls and a one-metre thick roof, which includes a two-metre thick primary beam radiation barrier. Once delivered, Campbelltown Hospital will offer the highest level of publicly accessed cancer therapy in the region. #CampbelltownUpdate

This is what 43 years of progress, commitment and investment into our local health care system looks like. 1977: Campbelltown Hospital first opened (Building A with 120 beds. This included an Operating Theatre, Outpatient Unit, X-ray Department, Pharmacy, Pathology and Emergency Department. 1984: Campbelltown Hospital became the first hospital in all of Australia to open a public hospital Day Surgery Unit. 1986: Building C is o...pened with a new Paediatric Unit, Operating Theatres and Mental Health Unit. 2006: New emergency department (Building A) opened. 2015: Building D opened with expanded Outpatient Services, Surgical Wards and Allied Health facilities. 2017: Launch of the Macarthur Clinical Services Building. 2020: Construction of new 12-storey clinical services building underway. #CampbelltownUpdate See more

"I love working with a wide variety of patients throughout the day to achieve their goals of returning home safely and getting better. I chose to become a physiotherapist to help people after watching a close family member receive extensive rehab post-surgery.
