22.01.2022 Play Australia have launched their inaugural South Australian '1000 Play Streets' initiative in Hectorville, with support from the Campbelltown City Council and a grant from the SA Recreation and Sport's 2020-21 Sport and Recreation Development and Inclusion Program. 1000 Play Streets encourages residents to enjoy a more active lifestyle by temporarily closing a residential street, enabling people of all ages to connect and play outside in a community space. Between August and October 2020, Council is expanding the current food scrap recycling service to all residents in the Council area by providing a kitchen caddy kit including a roll of compostable bags to all residents not already registered for the food scrap recycling service. Use the roll of bags included in your new kit and then place the bag in your green organics bin or skip the bag altog...ether and place food scraps in the green organics bin loose or wrapped in newspaper. 21.01.2022 The Weir-keepers Cottage (aka Waterworks House), 664 Gorge Road, Black Hill, was constructed in 1857 near the southern bank of the River Torrens at a sport where the ravine naturally opened out for a building site. Gorge Road ended at this picturesque stone cottage with its adjacent stone stable, until construction began on the mountain highway to Gumeracha in 1912. 18.01.2022 *Best use of Technology Award* The City of Campbelltown and City of Prospect have received a Parks and Leisure Australia SA/NT Award of Excellence for Best use of Technology for the Connected Cities sensor project undertaken in 2019. Connected Cities was a joint project to rollout a metropolitan wide area low powered Internet of Things network. This network is completely open and free to the public to use to start dabbling in citizen science and technology, while allowing ...councils to collect environmental data about their parks and open spaces. The network covers well over a third of the Adelaide metropolitan area and consists of ten gateways attached to the open source global Things Network, with coverage across City of Burnside, Campbelltown City Council, City of Prospect, City of Port Adelaide Enfield and City of Playford and links with the The University of Adelaides network at its Waite, City and Roseworthy campuses. 13.01.2022 Well done SA! Over 12,000 tests were undertaken yesterday and no new cases have been recorded so far. The Government direction is to ‘Stay at Home’. Please Stay at Home unless you absolutely need to go out, so that the current restrictions can be lifted as soon as possible. There are a list of reasons where one person from each household is able to leave their home once per day to get essential items (eg supermarkets, butchers, fruit and veg stores, and chemists). Please no...te that only ONE person can leave the house and do these essential things. SA Health have also provided a list of hotspots which are in the link below. Between August and October 2020, Council is expanding the current food scrap recycling service to all residents in the Council area who are not already registered for the service. Tips for using the kitchen caddy system:... Place in an easily accessible area in the kitchen that is well ventilated. Let hot food cool down before placing it in your container. Paper towel and tissues can be placed into your kitchen caddy and helps absorb moisture. Freeze meat and seafood until your bin collection day to avoid odours in warmer weather. Empty your container every few days into the green organics bin. If you do not want to use the kitchen caddy system for any reason, please return the kit to Council for someone else to use instead.
