19.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce our guest speaker at the 2020 Campbell Town Show, Shanna Whan who established the highly successful Sober in the Country. Shanna has single-handedly been creating a positive culture-shift across Australia's outback by an inclusive conversation that's making it ''OK to say no to a beer.'' The 2018 Rural Woman of the Year finalist and now 2020 Regional Woman of the Year finalist officially announced ''Sober in the Country Ltd'' as a national charity ...the same week her story went to air on Australian Story in 2019 and off the back of 5 years spent entirely as a volunteer to get the ''truth about grog in the bush'' into the light and with the sole intention of pulling people out of the river before they drown in the overlooked demographic of rural professional and peers. Today she travels and speaks across the nation and as the CEO and Founder of the charity to educate, inform, MC, and deliver useful and relatable information to health industry workers, students, corporate bodies, communities - and to continue her fight for better services, support, and awareness for the men and women who get up, show up, and continue to feed and clothe the nation despite little or no support in the complex space of alcohol abuse, misuse, and addiction. Her foundation was created off the back of her own near death experience as an invisible, undiagnosed and untreated high-functioning alcoholic who slipped through the cracks for most of her life. Her wish is to pay forward a message of hope, and to smash ancient and outdated stigmas around the truth of alcohol and its' impact in the rural sector - especially as drought, climate change, and sustainability are harder than ever for those ''west of the great divide'' ... Shanna will officially open the show on Saturday and we look forward to revealing more in the lead up to the show. Photo: R.M.Williams OUTBACK magazine

15.01.2022 We are very happy to announce that a December event is on the cards for 2020. Though, in light of COVID it will not be in the usual Campbell Town Show format we're all used to. It will be a one day event on Saturday, December 5th - we will be hosting the annual SMBAT Ram Sale that happens every year at the showgrounds but we will also be holding some equestrian events and an MAA fleece show. If you wish to see an event happen then please contact the relevant sub committees to float your ideas and we absolutely welcome this. There will be absolutely no gate entry fees, or any entry fees at all - it is simply an opportunity for our community to come together for a day out and about. We hope to see you there!

09.01.2022 We are so, so thrilled to announce that the Midland Agricultural Association has been awarded $499,953 for the upgrade of the L.A. Burbury Pavilion at the Campbell Town Showgrounds. This includes upgrades to existing amenities, a new commercial kitchen and seating capacity for up to 272 people in the main pavilion. This is such fantastic news to receive only three weeks out from the original show dates for the 182nd (longest consecutively run in the Southern Hemisphere) show... that as we all know has been postponed in light of current COVID19 circumstances. We wish to acknowledge and thank those who provided support throughout the application and a massive thank you to the committee members who worked tirelessly on this application. And finally to the Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program (AgShows) and Australian Government for providing the opportunity. Congratulations to all of the shows who entered and were successful. We look forward to watching agricultural shows carry on for many years to come

06.01.2022 Saturday March 7th Hamilton Agricultural Show Tasmania is happening - gather the troops and head to another fantastic regional show!

02.01.2022 On the morning of April 25th, 1915, Australian and New Zealand troops landed under fire at Gallipoli, and it was then and in the violent campaign which followed, that the ANZAC tradition was forged. The elements of that tradition have inspired and offered an enduring example to later generations of Australians. This morning the MAA President, Louisa Street laid wreathes in Ross in loving memory of all those who fought on that morning 105 years ago. The wreathes were beautifully made by Mrs Vera Taylor from Winton, Campbell Town. #lestweforget #wewillrememberthem
