24.01.2022 Phillip Maher shared this photo to the page on 22 January 2014. "Stained Glass Window in St Michael's Church".

23.01.2022 There are several cemeteries around Campbell Town, this headstone is in the Old Church of England Cemetery in Church Street beside the showgrounds. It marks the grave of Matilda Higgins who departed this life aged 8 months on 10 March 1832. This is the inscription : "The mother weeps, the father weeps, the sisters weep all round, as here the beaby layeth silent in the ground". There are many unmarked graves in the cemetery, convicts were buried without markers and no doubt there were others who couldn't afford headstones.

23.01.2022 Before the reservoir was built the only way to get water was to collect rainwater or cart it from the river. Some buildings had wells to draw water from. Mr James Gray had a water cart and made a living supplying water to the township. This photograph may have been taken around 1890.

23.01.2022 The Grange was built for Dr William Valentine about 1847 and was designed by James Blackburn. Dr Valentine was one of the first medical officers of the district. The park between The Grange and High Street was named Valentine Park as a memorial to him.

22.01.2022 Helen Haines shared this ANZAC Day Sports Booklet for us. Mum still has the ANZAC Day Sports Medal which she won as a child.

22.01.2022 This lovely old cottage stood on the hill above the old swimming pool. Joseph and Mary Ann Higgins and their children lived here from the 1890s. Their youngest child Alan Higgins and was the last family member to live here, he passed away in 1989. The cottage and land was sold and the cottage demolished.

20.01.2022 The front of The Grange taken about 1930.

20.01.2022 St Andrew's Presbyterian Church was completed and dedicated in 1857. St Andrew's was still in use by The Uniting Church early this century but fell into disrepair and was sold. It has since been sold again and is now being restored as a Cafe and Reception Centre.

19.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone

19.01.2022 This double advertisement was featured in the Souvenir Booklet of the Centenary of Campbell Town 1821 - 1921.

18.01.2022 The ANZAC Day Sports were held after the Memorial Service and were very popular with everyone. 1937 ANZAC Day Athletics, Campbell Town Area School, Sporting Group. Back from left to right: Max Hills, Ella Dudman, Dorothy Oakley, Stan Davidson. Middle from left to right: John Flanagan, George Davidson, Noel Clarke, Norm Upton, Rex Davidson, Gordon Groves. Front from left to right: Rex Darke, Cynthia Richardson, Phyllis Webb, Austin Hayes.

18.01.2022 The Brickhill's Building was built in 1859 by Joseph Brickhill for his General Store. I only remember it has O'Brien's General Store and used to be a regular shopper until it was destroyed by fire in 1983.

17.01.2022 Unfortunately the only information supplied with this photo was that they were all local cyclists. Can anyone supply names or date?

17.01.2022 This postcard photograph taken looking south down High Street shows all the old buildings. In the middle on the right is the Garage with the original front on it.

16.01.2022 Leanne Flood shared these photos taken by her Mother. The fire would have been devastating to the O'Brien family and left a lot of people unemployed. The town was left without a general business which supplied so many necessities. The local Museum, News Agency, Men's Wear, Home Furnishings, Habedashery and much more.

15.01.2022 2014 Christmas Parade - Zeps float.

13.01.2022 St Michael's Catholic Church was consecrated in 1857 and is still used every week. The residence in the grounds were also used as a convent and a school for a few years.

13.01.2022 Bill Chugg shared this photo of the Campbell Town Brass Band at the Campbell Town Hospital Fete in 1961.

12.01.2022 Keith Darke took this photo of O'Brien's Store around 1970 and shared it to the page last year. This is how I remember the O'Brien's Store and the news agency with Mr and Mrs Lane beside it. The Men's Wear Store on the Northern end.

09.01.2022 Another view of the back of the Grange, not sure of the date, possibly 1950s/1960s.

09.01.2022 The 1985 Christmas Parade photos shared by Helen Haines. Bevis Perkins, Santa, Alison Haines and Cindy Maxfield.

08.01.2022 This is the Old Church of England Cemetery in Church Street beside the showgrounds. I took this photo a few years ago.

08.01.2022 The Brickhill Memorial Church, (also called the Old Stone Church) High Street Campbell Town. This church was built in 1879 and was used as a place of worship until the merger of Methodist and Presbyterian Churches into the Uniting Church which sadly meant that only one Church building was needed. I remember being taken to services at this church as a child, then it became a private home and also a cafe for a while. It is now very well maintained and has the most delightful gardens surrounding it.

07.01.2022 The next Campbell Town Bi-centenary planning meeting will be held on Monday night at 7.00pm in the Sports Pavilion at the Football Oval. Come along and find out what is being planned for the Bi-centenary next year and share any ideas you may have. All welcome

06.01.2022 This photo of the Brickhill's Building was probably taken around 1930. Obviously the road rules were a bit different then.

04.01.2022 Another of the 1985 Christmas Parade shared to the page by Helen Haines.

04.01.2022 The Weslyan Chapel in King Street, was built in 1846. After the Brickhill Memorial Church was built in High Street in 1879 the lovely little chapel was no longer used for church services and for many decades was used as the Methodist Sunday School. It is now privately owned. My Great Grandmother lived in the little cottage at the back of this chapel for many years.

04.01.2022 The Band Leaders at the Highland Games which were an annual event at Campbell Town. I remember going to the games in the 1960s.

04.01.2022 This sketch of St Michael's Church and the East end of King Street is dated 1856. There is a signature but I can't read it.

03.01.2022 This photo of the Campbell Town Brass Band was taken in front of the cricket shed which stood beside the King Street Oval. Helen Haines (nee Leedham) shared it and asked if anyone knew any of the members. Then Jennie Smith (nee Porter) also shared it. I am not even sure of a date. Does anyone have any information please? We have two names for this photo : the band master in the big hat in back row is William Lockett and 3rd from left in front is Jim Jenkins.

02.01.2022 This photograph was shared to the page by Alanah Donaldson. The Circus coming to town was a regular event and one that was enjoyed by everyone. The Circus would usually set up on the King Street oval. We think this would have been during the 1950's.
