25.01.2022 We know boaters want to understand what’s happening with the Bullen Merri boat ramp. So, here’s the low down. Last year, we funded South Beach Foreshore Commit...tee of Management (SBFCM) to progress the design work needed to kick-start the upgrade. Earlier this week, we had a great meeting with SBFCM and Corangamite Shire Council who support a new ramp design. We’re now looking to progress a more detailed design and the approvals needed to facilitate constructing a new ramp once funding has been secured. We appreciate your patience and will continue to work with SBFCM to help them deliver the upgrade. Victorian Trout & Redfin Fishing . Victorian Fisheries Authority Camperdown Angling Club

17.01.2022 It’s business as usual at our Snobs Creek Hatchery, near Eildon. Right now, the Chinook salmon spawning season is upon us! We strip the mature females and mi...x milt with the eggs so they’re fertilised, before placing them into these up-welling containers. Water passes over the eggs, keeping them oxygenated and healthy. We’ll keep you posted when they start hatching! #snobscreekhatchery #fishinglicencefeesatwork #fishforthefuture

10.01.2022 Thanks to a $58,000 government investment, the detailed design work on a new boat ramp at South Beach, Lake Bullen Merri is now underway. Why is it taking s...o long we hear you say? Well, to make sure we replace the current boat ramp with a long-term, sustainable solution, we've needed to understand what is causing deterioration at the existing ramp. So, over the last six-months, studies have been done to analyse the impacts of wind driven waves, local underwater processes, lakebed profile and the effects of a receding lake level on the boat ramp. These studies have shown that specific features such as groynes will need to be incorporated as part of the detailed design to reduce the need for ongoing maintenance and further ramp deterioration in the future. Detailed design and construction drawings will be developed over the next 12-14 weeks to present as tender documentation to a contractor to construct the ramp. 10.01.2022 Here’s looking at you, kid! Check out these healthy Chinook salmon ‘eyed ova’ at our Snobs Creek hatchery, near Eildon. Very brightly coloured eggs with clear... black eyes indicate they’re developing well and will likely hatch in a week. Stay tuned! We’re looking forward to stocking these beauties before year’s end into Victoria’s premier crater lake fisheries, lakes Purrumbete and Bullen Merri. You can see how many we’ve stocked in previous years on our fish stocking database here: https://vfa.vic.gov.au/recreational-fishing/fish-stocking/db #fishinglicencefeesatwork #snobscreekhatchery #fishforthefuture
