24.01.2022 At Camp Out we aim to build community with 50 campers and to present important ideas that empower each and every one of them. One vital conversation that Camp Out presents is the intersection of gender and cultural diversity. This year we're so fortunate to welcome Amao Leota Lu back to Camp as part of our QTPOC panel, to share her wonderful perspective and experience with campers. Each year, Camp Out brings together a range of wonderful facilitators and presenters from acro...ss our community, to demonstrate in real time that there is no single way to experience culture or gender and that all of our identities are complex, valid and powerful. We know for a fact that several of our campers have submitted works this year, and last year's event was a HUGE success. Get down to Twenty10 this weekend, buy some art and a snack and show your support for young LGBTIQA+ folks.

14.01.2022 Hi folx, We regret to inform you that there will be no Camp Out in 2020. With the uncertainty caused by Covid-19, we have decided it is best to not hold Camp this year. As disappointing as it is to not be able to hold Camp this year, we have decided it is in the best interests of our team and potential campers to not hold such a large gathering this year.... We will be using this time to make any future Camp Out events even better! We hope you are feeling safe and staying well, and look forward to seeing you at Camp Out in the future. 10.01.2022 Tomorrow we bring 50 teens to Worimi country, from across the colonial territory known as New South Wales. In doing so, we are called to name the privilege and contradiction in building this project - this 'utopia' for queer youth - on stolen land. We are called to name the work left to do in centering the voices and strength of indigenous people in our project, in our work, in our broader LGBTIQA+ community. As Camp Out 2019 approaches, our crew would like to acknowledge the... Worimi people as the true custodians of the land upon which Camp Out is built, and the Darug and Gadigal peoples as the custodians of the lands on which we organise. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders Past, Present and Emerging - those who have protected and cultivated these lands and cultures for tens of thousands of years, and those who lead us to a future of justice and community. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

10.01.2022 Who's excited for Wear It Purple Day, tomorrow? Wear it Purple Day is a day to celebrate and support LGBTIQA+ young people, as a beautifully diverse demographic that is still extremely marginalised. Over 30% of homeless youth in NSW identify as LGBTIQA+. Within our community, rates of mental health diagnoses, social isolation, bullying, poverty and violence are 3 times that of the general population.... Camp Out proudly provides 50 young LGBTIQA+ folks with the opportunity to build community and connection, in the hopes of challenging these statistics and empowering the next generation. This Wear It Purple Day, please wear some purple and find a local WIP event near you to show your support. 05.01.2022 One thing that Camp Out's volunteer crew hears all the time from our supporters is, "I wish there was a camp when I was a teen!" And believe us, we feel exactly the same. The kids pictured here would have bloody LOVED Camp Out! Our volunteer crew spend literally months of our lives building this project from the ground up, every year. We do it not only for the 50 young LGBTIQA+ teens able to attend each year, but for all of those for whom camp never existed. For our amazing, ...generous community, who make this work possible by donating time, energy and resources. Who show up to our fundraisers. Who rally for young queer folks, every single time. We know that communities like Camp Out will thrive and spread into the world, one powerful group of LGBTIQA+ teens at a time. We know because we have been those teens. Our community has been those teens. Knowing that we have so much support keeps us going, so thank you. Our 2019 crowdfunding campaign is coming to a close this weekend.
