24.01.2022 The changes have a huge impact on cycling connections. You no longer can cross horwood Pl - George st intersection. When forced to turn left into George st ( away from where you want to go) there is no right turn into Smith st or barracks lane. Need to rethink this!
24.01.2022 If you're out riding this Sunday, you might see some people out counting bikes for the Super Sunday bike count. There are several locations around Western Sydney. If interested, check out the map. 20.01.2022 Parramatta has more heritage than most people realise! Australias 3 oldest European buildings are located here. Also located here is the longest continuously u...sed church site (St Johns), military site (Lancer Barracks) the pub with the oldest licence (Woolpack), the site of first successful crops (Government Farm), the oldest in-situ marked grave and oldest surviving cemetery (Henry Dodds grave and St Johns Cemetery), the first mathematically-designed dam in Australia (Lake Parramatta), the oldest 3-storey brick building in Australia (Female Orphan School), the oldest Independent school (Kings), the first bridge (to Government Farm), the first observatory. It's also the site of the first Aboriginal feasts, the Native Institution, the first European land grant... is that enough to raise your interest? Then join the next Parramatta Heritage Ride on Sun 15 September and discover them all with us! Youll leave with an unforgettable impression of Parramattas European and Indigenous history. The ride is about 20km and will take around 2.5 hours. Paul, our ride leader, also speaks French. The ride is also free, but please book in via our website at parramattaheritagerides.net END
20.01.2022 Interesting video about conflicts between pedestrians and bike riders on the BayRun, posted by BicycleNSW. It's a little out of the CAMWEST geographic area, but I know at least several of us have ridden sections of the path. see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POiraqE6oHA

17.01.2022 Traffic conditions are changing throughout the Parramatta CBD with preparation for light rail. For any one attending tomorrows AGM, Horwood place has been blocked on George st with pedestrian access only. To enter city centre carpark, access horwood place via Macquarie street only - remember this a one way street... See you at shop 4 under the carpark!

12.01.2022 This morning's commute, via the Finlayson Creek shared path. Love the purple rain from the jacarandas. Can't wait for this Cumberland City Council path to eventually join into the City of Parramatta paths.
12.01.2022 We've put together 4 voice-navigated routes, which can be used with the 'Ride With GPS' app running on your mobile device. Each route is approximately 20km in length, and use predominantly shared paths. Some of the routes may be well known to you, while others may be new. We plan on adding more routes of varying length over coming months. See https://ridewithgps.com/collections/16630 for the current list. The voice-navigation function on the 'Ride With GPS;' app is norma...lly a paid feature. In the medium-term paid-up CAMWEST members will be able to access this functionality at no additional cost. However, for the next few months we're offering this functionality for free for people to test and provide feedback. If you're interested, please drop me an email at [email protected], and I'll send back a link to join CAMWEST's Ride with GPS Account. The way the app functions is a bit different to a traditional GPS; we have found a number of 'quirks' with it. See www.camwest.org.au/rides.html for further details. Happy Cycling, Rob. See more

Today we were especially aware of the beautiful natural environment around us that has been a great motivational factor for our rides. The large spaces of greenery and sprouting flowers provided the best stress free and wholesome atmosphere during the session Everyone has the right to ride a bike and experience the wind in their hair.
