23.01.2022 Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays and you got to enjoy the snow in Ballarat today! Amazing to see our school covered in a blanket of white! Thanks to Melissa Powell (Brodie and Carters mum) for the amazing photos.

23.01.2022 Some cute little CLPS cupcakes for those coming to the Drive Through from 1-2:30 today. No sun but some excited teachers to wave to you!

23.01.2022 Cloudy skies but lots of fun on camp for the middle unit!

22.01.2022 Loving our treats from school families! Thank you!

21.01.2022 Spreading kindness We have an awesome local small business here in Canadian. Our teachers did a whip-around and chipped in to do an order and rather than enjoy the treats ourselves, we paid-it-forward and delivered them to the Specialist School. Doing good deeds is good for our own mental health

19.01.2022 Congratulations! You did it! Term 3 is done! Thank you for all of your hard work, resilience and fun! Have a restful and well deserved holiday!

19.01.2022 The canoe instructor threw lots of inflatable balls into the water and the kids had to practice their paddling and boat steering skills to collect them. It’s harder than it looks!

17.01.2022 Another Monday done CLPS families and friends. Everyone is a bit flat after yesterday’s announcement - but better days are coming! A spring photo (daffodils ), artwork on the school walls, a lonely Mrs Teddy in the J-hub waiting patiently for the kids to be back, and colourful chalk drawings on the asphalt here at school. Little things to make us smile! Hang in there families - we are thinking of you!

17.01.2022 Congrats to our Respect the Badge winners!

16.01.2022 Beautiful home learning photos from Week 7 - making crystals, bubble wands, grass heads, exploring air currents, flight, a wind tower excursion and a reading cubby. Keep up the awesome work CLPS team! Happy Friday - have a great day.

16.01.2022 Hello CLPS families, We have an exciting visitor booked for weekly visits next term - Pauley (plus Annie as Pauley can’t drive! ). Pauley will do a mix of classroom visits and some individual sessions with students, plus be available at recess and lunch for pats and company! We know this is an unsettling time for many children so having extra support at school is essential. Establishing strong reading, writing and maths skills is the best way to build resilience and self e...steem as young people can participate fully in all aspects of school and have future life choices - but we don’t have to choose between academics and good mental health - we work on both at school alongside each other! Information about allergies will go home and any children who are frightened of dogs don’t need to have any contact with Pauley - he is here to make us feel good, not to worry anyone! Can’t wait to meet Pauley and Annie soon See more

16.01.2022 A free webinar this THURDSAY that some of our families might be interested in. Bobbi Cook is a local Behaviour Therapist with years of experience working with children and families. See the information attached! Have a great week everyone

14.01.2022 Pauley and Annie posting about their first visit to CLPS! Pauley needed to sniff his way around the school before officially starting his terms ‘work’ in Week 2, Term 4. Beautiful boy!

13.01.2022 Happy campers!

13.01.2022 Right on the doorstep of our school are some beautiful natural areas. I just met our School Council President Sophie and Hedley, an active local community member who has been involved in developing and maintaining the Sparrow Ground Reserve. What a perfect place for outdoor learning! Lots of dreaming about outdoor time and how we can learn beyond the classroom walls

13.01.2022 Campers! See you at 3.15!

12.01.2022 And we’re back! Icy poles to cool down in the classroom. Bags are in the gym, see you at 3.15pm and parents and carers, please make sure your children say a huge THANKYOU to their teachers - it’s a mammoth effort taking 55 children away on camp!

12.01.2022 Sorting photos after school and realised these two needed to be shared together! A chalk message at on the bitumen at school and our new mural in the foyer. A good message for a Friday.

11.01.2022 Our staff did a fantastic professional learning session this year with an occupational therapist from Perth (wonders of technology!) on handwriting. We are now breaking this down and teaching it in steps. Foundation students start with the basic six shapes that form most letters. Practicing these at home is wonderful! See the next image for the shapes.

11.01.2022 Thank you to EVERYONE that participated in our remote Footy Colours Day last Friday! We were so impressed with the enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to a fun filled day! A special thanks to our JSC for organising a great fundraiser. We raised over $100 which will help assist the fight for kids with cancer! Thank you kindly for your donations and contribution. We are proud to have such a positive and kind school community!

11.01.2022 Its time for the Juniors to show off their AMAZING art talents! Once again thank you to Miss C for putting this together for us! We certainly have some very talented artists at CLPS!

11.01.2022 This year we started using the evidence-based Sounds Write program to teach our children phonics. Schools have always taught letters and sounds but now we are doing it in a dedicated time slot and in an explicit way. The impact this has already had on reading and spelling is huge even with the disruptions we have had this year! Sounds Write offer a FREE course for parents and carers. Being able to read is the greatest gift we can give our children. This is a good time for an...y interested parents and carers to do this course! It’s really relevant for those with young children and perfect for anyone interested in reading. Please let me know if you need any more information or have any questions. https://www.udemy.com/co/help-your-child-to-read-and-write/

10.01.2022 Below is a video of one of our superstar students Max explaining about one of our upcoming fundraisers for JSC in Term 4. Max has been very closely affected by HLH and has done an amazing job explaining all about this disease below for those that don’t know much about it. ... September is HLH awareness month so in Term 4 the JSC will be doing a dress in Blue day to support this amazing cause. Please keep an eye out for this day and remember to give a donation on this day to help support families like Max’s.

05.01.2022 Does your CLPS child need a bike? Bike riding is an essential part of childhood - it helps children learn balance, coordination and keep fit! Plus it’s a great way to get around once kids are older. These bikes are available for our students (only students enrolled at CLPS). All second hand and donated. Ring Lisa at the office to arrange to come by and take one for a test ride! Free to good homes!

03.01.2022 Week 8 Assembly! Well done to everyone smashing the work!

03.01.2022 There’s a pretty special four-panel mural going up in the school foyer tomorrow to celebrate the history and culture of the traditional owners of the land on which our school sits. Photos below are of one of the panels plus a nice activity from one of the classrooms this week to acknowledge NAIDOC week.

01.01.2022 Usually at this time of year we would be having open days and school tours but these are currently on hold. We have created a fun clip so interested families can see what an amazing school CLPS is. It is focused on Foundation, with a few words from our older students about the amazing programs we offer. We hope you enjoy it! Please share it and pass it onto any families you know with 2021 Foundation students. Call the office on 53337170 to have an enrolment pack posted.... Enrolments for 2021 are NOW OPEN! See more
