24.01.2022 Can Assist thanks Woolworths for the provision of some vouchers to ensure our cancer patients have fresh food and petrol in these times. Local Gunnedah resid...ent and mum of 4 small girls, Laura Grabham, was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago and is still undergoing treatment in an attempt to slow and shrink an inoperable tumour attached to her heart and oesophagus. With multiple, and ongoing, trips to Sydney for treatment, the expenses her family have incurred are huge. But with the help of her family, friends, local community and Can Assist Gunnedah they are managing to keep the family determined to get a positive outcome. Can Assist Gunnedah with the generosity of Woolworths has played a part in ensuring when most need help was there for Laura and her family. 23.01.2022 Jean Colvin passed away in 1957. Now, 63 years later, she is still remembered with affection. Well aware that country radiotherapy patients were having nightm...arish times in Sydney, she made a significant difference to the future of country cancer patients through her work establishing the Orange Branch of Can Assist in 1956. She was an inspiration to others working hard, despite her own grave illness, that the hostel in Darling Point was named after her as the Jean Colvin Hospital. Her son, John, remains closely affiliated with Can Assist as our Patron and generous supporter. Find out more www.canassist.org.au

Like all othe...r Can Assist branches, we are still providing much needed financial assistance to our clients but due to COVID restrictions have very little money coming in to our branch because we are unable to fundraise.
