14.01.2022 Subject to the COVID-19 situation remaining stable, the ACT will be further easing Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions from 9am Friday 13 November 2020. What’s cha...nging in the ACT: All gatherings can increase from 200 to 500 (subject to density restrictions being met). To hold gatherings of greater than 500, an exemption in accordance with the ACT COVID Safe Event Protocol is required. More info here http://bit.ly/Event-Protocol The requirement for patrons to be seated while eating and drinking will be removed for outdoor spaces. This reflects considerable evidence that outdoor spaces present a lower risk of transmission of COVID-19 compared to indoor spaces, and will provide an opportunity for business to assess impacts of the change and implement new processes, if required. Three venue capacity rules apply: 1 Option 1: 25 people (excluding staff) across venues with a total usable space of 100 square metres or less. 2 Option 2 for hospitality venues only: 50 people (excluding staff) across venues with total usable space of between 101 and 200 square metres. 3 Option 3: maximum of 500 people for each space, applying the following rules: one person per four square metres of usable space in each indoor space (excluding staff). one person per two square metres of usable space in each outdoor space (excluding staff). Businesses, venues and facilities are strongly encouraged to request contact information from patrons using an electronic method. The free and secure Check In CBR app (www.covid19.act.gov.au/check-in-cbr) is available for venues to fulfil this requirement, which also removes the burden on venues to hold these records. For further industry-specific information on restrictions currently in effect, refer to the Business and Work section on the ACT COVID-19 website www.covid19.act.gov.au/business-and-work More information on the latest changes here www.covid19.act.gov.au/changes

08.01.2022 Dental X-rays /ADA/media/ADA/YOH/img/xray-YA-teaser.jpg?ext=.jpg There’s a lot going on in your mouth that is not visible to the naked eye, and dental X-rays allow your dentist to see what’s happening below the surface. By taking X-rays, your dentist is provided with a comprehensive assessment of the health of your mouth.... No visible signs of trouble Tooth decay can be sneaky it doesn’t tend to show physical signs of its presence early on. X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that allows your dentist to confirm if you have tooth decay, or if you have any problems such as infection around the roots of the tooth, or bone loss. Spotting it early means your dentist can deal with the problem before it becomes significant. Safe for everyone Regardless of whether you’re a child or an adult, you can have X-rays safely taken of the inside and outside of your mouth. The amount of radiation involved is extremely low, and is equivalent to the sort of exposure you’d receive on a 1-2 hour flight. This means that even if you’re pregnant you can have X-rays taken, although they are generally kept to a minimum during this period. Oh, and that thing about your dentist leaving the room while the X-rays are taken? Nothing to worry about there they’re taking lots of X-rays all day long and stepping out of the room limits their ongoing exposure to radiation. Why X-rays are needed The types of X-rays your dentist will take will depend on the conditions for which you are being assessed. The decision to take an X-ray, and the type of X-ray taken, will be influenced by such things as your past and present oral health, an examination of your mouth, your age, risk of disease and any early symptoms of oral disease. What can dental X-rays detect? Small areas of decay between teeth not visible in the mouth Problems with existing fillings, root canals, crowns or bridges The presence and severity of gum disease Abscesses or other sorts of infections Tooth development issues such as malformed teeth, extra or missing teeth etc. Cysts and some types of tumours Traumatic injuries such as tooth and bone fractures Proximity of teeth to nerves and sinuses The development of wisdom teeth and if there is a need for them to be removed The amount of bone needed for dental implants If an X-ray shows decay, your dentist will discuss treatment options with you, which may be preventive to slow or stop further progression of the decay, or may involve a filling if there is an actual cavity.
07.01.2022 Guided Biofilm Therapy and Chemotherapy? Gilbert D. was diagnosed with cancer and received a cycle of 12 chemotherapies. During the treatments it was not possib...le for him to get a professional teeth cleaning because of the high infection risk. In between a sequence of treatments his oncologist gave consent for him to receive Guided Biofilm Therapy. For patients undergoing chemotherapy it is crucial to be as gentle as possible, using technology which is minimally invasive and avoiding any damage to their soft and hard tissues. The patient was extremely grateful and happy as this type of cleaning was never done before.
