10.01.2022 Happy New Year! We have had a number of enquiries today due to the smoke across Canberra about installing HEPA filters in residential air conditioning units. To install HEPA filters the air conditioning unit would need to be encased in a housing unit and with a pressure drop across the filter of over 250 pascals, a residential air conditioning system would not be able to cope with this type of filter. ... To reduce the smoke haze you could try to spray the air conditioning filter with water or use a wet towel (damp not ringing wet) over the AC return air system. Stay safe.

04.01.2022 Suffering from all the smoke? If you have an AC unit try spraying the return air grill with water, this is not a long-term solution as the filter won't handle it. If you have an evaporative system try running it on cool not vent.... If you have a gas heating system run it on vent only putting a wet towel (damp only) over the return air grill or spray the filter with water - you'll need to keep the filter or towel wet (damp) about every 30 minutes. Stay safe.
