24.01.2022 Hi everyone. I know it’s been a while since the last update, and I’ve been plugging away trying to build support for our cause. I’m happy to say that I’ve been in touch with some of the car clubs in Canberra, and have been getting some good responses. I have also managed to get in touch with Chic Henry and Andy Lopez. Both of whom are happy to throw their support behind the multi use Motorsport facility idea. This is huge! Having Andy and the Summernats team behind us will b...e very helpful. They have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to setting up car related events and dealing with governments. At the very least they will be a fantastic sounding board for any ideas we have. At the most, they could be a potential partner in getting a track built. Since having these most recent conversations, I am now more convinced than ever that campaigning for the reopening the old CID site is not the right approach. Long story short, there are agreements and contracts in place that are well, well beyond our control which make using that site for Motorsport not possible. But all that means is, we need to think outside the box and find new potential land. This is a good opportunity to move forward, leave the argument for the old site in the past, and start seeing thing from a new perspective As always, if you have any ideas, feel free to message the page and open a dialogue. This might be nothing, and the timing is a little curious with an election year around the corner. However, it’s also the first public mention of this kind of thing in a long time. Watch this space

16.01.2022 Good evening everyone. Just an update on how we went today: I had a very positive meeting with the shadow minister and his assistant today. I don’t want to speak out of school but, suffice it to say that a Motorsport Park with a drag strip, skid pan, and tarmac circuit fits in very well with what they’re planning on taking to the next election. This is a very exciting development and there is a lot of work to do over the next 12 months. ... Watch this space!

This will be a very preliminary meeting at this stage, however it is promising that they are showing an interest, especially given we're still a fair way off the next election. Cruising to Amaroo Primary school. $20 entry per car/bike. Free for spectators. Prizes and trophies for best judged vehicles. Raffles and lucky door prize. 10.01.2022 Hello all. It's been a while since our last update, but suffice to say, I've been rather busy. This is a call out to all of our members. ... Ultimately getting the government to listen to us will be a group effort. However, at the moment I would like to get in touch with anybody who was around in the 90's when the old CID was shut down. I'd like to hear people's experiences. Perhaps have a chat on the phone, and going forward, create a group of people who are keen to put their heads together to come up with new ideas to lobby the government with. I was there but was too young to understand the politics of it at the time. It's very important that we gather as much information as possible before approaching the government in an official capacity. That we can try to understand what the actual reason is that they completely brush the idea of a drag way every time it comes up. 05.01.2022 Hi everybody. I’m glad to see some of our followers have been enjoying the photos I posted. If you have any of your own you’d like to share, feel free to. With the ACT elections coming up on October 17th, I thought this would be a good time to get a conversation going about how people would envisage the motorsport scene in Canberra progressing. The last couple of years have given us the chance to evolve our thinking around this issue. What has become quite obvious is that p...ushing for the government to bring back a stand-alone drag strip will not work. What is more likely to work would be to approach it from a multi-disciplined point of view. For example, having a circuit, drag strip, and skid pan all in the same venue. Doing this would be a much wiser investment for any government and/or business, and would make it a much more usable venue. This is where you come in! We’d love to hear what you think such a venue should include. And if you have any ideas on locations, management ideas, different types of events that could be staged etc. Also, if you own a business, or know of one that would be willing to get involved in any way, we’d love to hear from you. The more people we can get involved with this, the better. This opportunity only comes around once every 4 years, and believe it or not, the parties are watching. So let’s make our voices heard. Remember. The only silly idea is the one you don’t share.

01.01.2022 Good morning all. The admin reigns for the page have been graciously handed over. First of all, I'd like to thank the previous admin for setting up the page and for doing their bit to try and get a drag strip back in Canberra. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I'm a born and bred Canberran who, like many of you, has always had a passion for cars and Motorsport. I used to attend many of the race meets at the old Canberra International Dragway with my mum..., as I was too young to take myself back then. I remember quite vividly the night everybody showed up for a Friday meet, only to find the gates locked, permanently. Ever since then, people have been doing what they can to try and lobby the ACT government to bring back the drag strip, mostly to no avail. Every time it is brought up with someone in government, the same line is rattled out; "there isn't a suitable site in the ACT for that kind of thing". Many people I've spoken to believe that this simply isn't true and that there must be more to it. Personally, I'm not too sure, so I'd rather not comment publicly about it until we have some more information. However, given the vast amount of land we have in the ACT, one would have to assume that somewhere, somehow, there has to be a suitable enough area. In addition to all of that, I am also a co founder/organiser of Chippas Main Street Cruz. An annual charity car and bike cruise which we have been holding since 2010. I'm also an admin of that page. I have also had a hand in promoting a change.org petition, set up by my good friend Kenny Piper. which we hope to use to lobby the ACT government to build a multi use Motorsport park, including a dragstrip, here in Canberra. So, if anybody has any questions, answers, ideas, photos, stories, information, shows, race meet info etc to share, feel free to put up a post.
