24.01.2022 CPS merged with the ACT P&C Council to become the Early Learning Committee on July 1, 2018. However, there will be a Special Resolution meeting in keeping with the ACT Incorporated Associations Act, to vote on whether CPS winds up all together, or takes a new form, for example, as a networking or social group for the parents of pre-schoolers. The meeting will be held on Thursday August 2 at 6.45pm. More details will be provided soon.

17.01.2022 CPS votes to wind up officially. At last night’s Special Resolution meeting, the CPS Committee asked, Should the Canberra Preschool Society wind up, or should it continue in a new form?" The Committee voted to wind up CPS. ... CPS and the ACT Council of Parents and Citizens (ACT P&C Council) merged on July 1 this year, meaning that services of the CPS have been absorbed by the ACT P&C Council and will be executed by a newly formed Early Learning Committee. The ACT P&C Council is the parent voice for public schools and works closely with the Education Directorate to achieve the best outcomes for our schools. The CPS will remain operating until September 30. In the meantime, the CPS Committee will meet with the P&C Council's Executive to discuss priorities for the Early Learning space and support the initial meeting of the Early Learning Committee.

16.01.2022 Volunteering in Preschools: Do you struggle to get enough volunteers for your association/committee and/or preschool events in general? Canberra Preschool Society is working with the ACT P&C Council, the Association of Parents and Friends of ACT Schools (APFACTS) and Volunteering and Contact ACT, to survey our members on the state of volunteering in schools from preschool through to high school. ... This survey will provide us with information that will help us understand: 1. what motivates people to help out at preschool/school? 2. what roles or tasks do parents like to be involved with at preschool/school? 3. what barriers stop parents from volunteering at their preschool/school? The feedback you provide will help shape resources that will be tailor-made for an educational environment. 13.01.2022 From July 1, the Canberra Preschool Society is officially part of the ACT Council of Parents & Citizens (P&C Council)! We’re excited to join with the Council to put our resources together to give even more support to parent committees in Canberra’s preschools and playschools, to support parents to get involved in their child’s schooling, and ensure the voice of preschool parents is heard.

There will be a presentation from the ACT Education Directorate, about the objectives and processes of the Future of Education consultation, followed by discussion in school-level groups.
