21.01.2022 Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre Response to the Covid-19 Virus. CRCC acknowledges that for many people in our community there are fears about the Covid-19 virus, and the impact on everyone across Australia and the world. We recognise that trauma has additional impacts on the health and wellbeing of our clients, including periods where those traumatised can also have times where immune systems are compromised as a result of the high level of ...stress caused by trauma. For these reasons we want to ensure that CRCC is pro-active about putting measures in place to minimise the risk, and ensure we are taking steps to slow the spread of COVID-19, and its impact on our community. At present all CRCC services will operate as normal. We will reassess this throughout the coming days and weeks and provide information of any changes to circumstances or functions of CRCC services. We recognise that when things occur in the world that impact the sense of safety we are all used to, it has a flow on affect in terms of the level of crisis people are living with. CRCC is able to respond to those clients who are in a greater crisis as a result of the impacts of COVID-19. We do ask that if people are unwell, or have flu-like symptoms, they access the crisis line on 62472525, rather than attend the Centre for appointments. A phone session can be arranged instead of a face to face session- if clients are well enough to participate. Crisis Staff will ask about symptoms when people call about appointments, please don't be offended, we are trying to do what we can to keep everyone safe. Those coming to CRCC please be aware that if you are unwell, we will advise you to return home. We are more than happy to support you via phone. We will also ensure that Staff do not attend work if they are affected by flu-like symptoms- and as a result will not see clients at the Centre during these times. We ask that all people coming in contact with CRCC assist to support the measures put in place by ACT Government and ACT Health, implement the strategies provided to us in this advice, that are aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 throughout our community. CRCC is able to be flexible to continue to provide services to clients and the community. We will communicate any adjustments through out networks as we all navigate the weeks and months ahead. Our Crisis line is available from 7am to 11pm to those in the community who need support. Please reach out if you need to. Best Regards The Canberra Rape Crisis Team and Board Chrystina Stanford Chief Executive Officer

09.01.2022 Please see below important updates on Service Delivery for the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre 25/03/2020 going forward, in response the impacts of COVID-19 Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) Update 26th of March 2020... As we see the further changes impact our lives in every way as a result of COVID-19, CRCC understands that we are all in uncertain times. We know for people already living with the effects of trauma, these changes are more difficult to navigate. Although this week CRCC has had to shift service provision to address the responsibility we all have to look out for each other and try collectively to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We are still available and able to assist for those in our community who are struggling with the impacts of sexual violence accurring now or impacts surfacing now for sexual assault that occurred long ago. We have moved Counselling, Crisis Appointments and Advocacy to Phone appointments. Current clients have been contacted to arrange phone sessions. Clients on the waiting list for Counselling at CRCC will be contacted to have Counselling offered via phone session. Intake appointments will be offered gathering limited information for what is appropriate for phone contact. People will be then offered phone Counselling through the intake process. Call Outs to Police to report sexual violence, and access to forensic services will still occur 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The 24 hour Call Out line remains fully operational. Forensic medical services will be attended by CRCC, where directed by the Police and the Forensic and Medical Sexual Assault Care(FAMSAC)
