22.01.2022 There is still an opportunity to be married under the ACT Marriage Equality Act 2013 but you will have to act fast in case the legislation changes. (The case will be heard by the full bench of the court on December 3 and 4 before the first marriages can take place under the ACT’s new laws.)

03.01.2022 This week, the High Court will begin hearing the Commonwealth’s challenge to the ACT’s Marriage Equality (Same Sex) Act 2013. But don’t expect lofty rhetoric about equality; the case is really about the inconsistency of laws, not human rights. In addition to the Commonwealth and the ACT, Australian Marriage Equality (AME) has also applied to be heard in the proceedings. Interestingly, no state has decided to intervene. Lets hope the right decision is made. Anyone in love should have the right to marry.
