19.01.2022 Our little Devon Rex Quennie (seen here sleeping in one of her favourite beds made out of an old pot!) has been through a lot this week! On the weekend she became very sick with a high temperature and a tender and sore tummy. After X-rays, an ultrasound, stomach surgery to remove a blockage and treatment for a bowel infection, she is now feeling a lot better and is home resting up. Thank you to the amazing team at Canberra Cat Vet for taking such good care of our Quennie and giving her lots of TLC over the past couple of days!!

11.01.2022 We have some very exciting news!!!! If you have been to the Fyshwick Fresh Food Market lately you may have seen the signs... We are opening a Capital Cafe Retail Shop at the new Fyshwick Niche_Markets! ... It’s just a retail shop (full of cat themed goodies!) there won’t be live cats residing there unfortunately as the space is not suitable but it is a HUGE step towards finally getting the Capital Cat Cafe open! So why a retail shop? - We have had a great deal of problems finding a suitable building in Canberra where we can have cats permanently residing for the cat cafe. Many building owners in Canberra don’t want cats in their building, some residents have had objections to a cat cafe in their building and of course many buildings are simply not suitable. We have also found that the ‘Crazy Cat Lady’ stereotype is alive and well with some real estate agents and landlords questioning the viability of a cat cafe as a long term business and thinking we are crazy to believe that we will be able to pay the rent and that people will actually want to come visit cats! We plan to prove them wrong!!!!! We have had some huge knocks and setbacks however we are not giving up! This shop, we hope will prove the Capital Cat Cafe is wanted and needed in Canberra and will help us be able to get a suitable building for the cats in the near future! It’s been a long process to even get this shop open and something that has been in the works since the very start of this year. We haven’t wanted to share the news until everything was 200% locked in and ready to go because there have been so many disappointments before. We have opened quietly, but we plan to have an official opening event soon! We will also be looking for staff in the coming weeks and will be advertising positions here very soon. Keep watch if you’re interested in working with us!
