20.01.2022 Piping Convenors of the Argyllshire Gathering and Northern Meeting, Torquil Telfer and Alan Forbes, have today issued the following statement: The Argyllshire Gathering and the Northern Meetings are acutely alert to the impact which the current Covid-19 crisis is having on scheduled public events and gatherings. After due consideration, it is our position that, at this early stage, there is no immediate requirement to cancel our piping competitions, however, as the situatio...n develops, we will review our current position and clearly be guided by the level of Government and scientific advice being provided. We are particularly sensitive to the difficulties which this level of uncertainty generates for overseas competitors and judges who have to make extensive travel and accommodation arrangements. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely notification of developments. The Argyllshire Gathering is due to be held in Oban on August 26 and 27 and the Northern Meeting in Inverness on August 20 and 21.PP

10.01.2022 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band has been unable to practice or perform together for over four months now. Piper Tim Hutchinson arranged this popular tune... for the pipes, including five harmony parts. 30 band members recorded individual parts (including piano and drum kit) on their phones and we merged them into this final piece. 09.01.2022 Thanks to: City of Brisbane Pipe Band for their valuable diagnostic skills: Today, IBD (International Bagpipe Day) recognises a serious affliction that affects thousands around the world. Symptoms include: sore left arm, dizziness and exhaustion distraction, blank stares and twitching fingers during everyday conversations ... fixation on tiny movements that no other sane person notices continuously emitting low, humming gibberish noises extremely unattractive candid shots disgruntled neighbours and howling pets prioritising band over social and family duties obsessively tuning while the drum corps is still at the pub. If you’ve lost a loved one to piping, there’s no currently known cure, though we hear propping them up in a comfy chair with a nice whiskey and gently whispering we’re not wearing jackets at this gig eases their suffering a little. Happy International Bagpipe Day to all those afflicted by bagpipes in our pipe band community we see you, we support you, and we celebrate in solidarity with you. See more

01.01.2022 Our Eastern Australian Championships, Scottish National Dance Premierships and May Festival will be live on the HDComps site over the next few days, so that you... can enter. Until then - please find below a copy of the syllabus. Previous competitors will also receive a copy via email in the next week. The competition is being held on SATURDAY 22nd MAY at Robert Townson High School in Raby (Campbelltown) This is just a 30min train ride from the airport (or 45min drive.) There are some lovely hotels and restaurants in the Campbelltown area. We will be posting some links over the coming weeks. Make use of the awesome airfares available at the moment and come and join us for our Festival! We'd love to see you!
