For further information and the interactive map visit https://www.facebook.com/FloriadeAU/

14.01.2022 The first in our series of Sustainable living podcasts is now available on the Canberra City Farm website. 14.01.2022 CCF Response to CoVid-19 ACT Health State of Emergency: The Committee has decided on the following, precautionary approach consistent with the best health advice we have been able to obtain in relation to the current CoVid-19 Health State of Emergency. There will be no Monthly mingles, organised workshops and school or community visits to the farm until after the current CoVid-19 Health State of Emergency is over, to protect participants, teachers and our volunteers. ... The Farm will remain accessible to people to tend their plots and people can visit the farm as normal, taking their own responsibility for carrying out their hygiene measures. There will be soap and paper towels in a container on the sink outside the Low Energy Super Shed (LESS) and in the toilets. Physical distancing should also be practised. If you see someone else - no hugs, kisses or handshakes please and keep 1.5-2metres away from others Monday and Thursday working bees will continue to carry out the necessary tasks to maintain the farm with NO obligation to attend if you feel it is not safe for you, and a specific request to stay away if you are not well from whatever cause. If people prefer to come another time or another day, there will be a weekly job list on the notice board that people can choose jobs from. Let us know by email at [email protected] if you complete a task so we can cross it off. We will conduct our committee and sub-committee business using Zoom. We are also conducting most of our formal education sessions via Zoom. We apologise for the disappointment this will bring to many, but we are working on ways around which will keep us safe and connected. Fiona Tito Wheatland (President) and the Canberra City Farm Committee

10.01.2022 Canberra City Farm May Newsletter - https://mailchi.mp/ce1d7df20c51/newslettermay2019-9332554

10.01.2022 The first frost hit CCF about 10 days ago. We had lots of green tomatoes still on the vine - about 3 buckets full! We processed the smaller ones into pickles, salsa verde, chutney and even cake. However, there were some really big ones that just LOOKED like they needed to turn red. We put them on egg trays spaced apart so they werent touching, along with an apple (which gives off ethylene, helping ripen them). We placed the egg trays in a plastic crate, covered with a towel ...and a lap quilt to keep them in darkness, and put them in the warm sunroom to ripen. Within the week, we had many ripe red ones, which we could make into passatta or use fresh. One of our members who grew up in the colder parts of America said that they used to wrap their green tomatoes in newspaper and put them in their root cellar - a cool but not freezing place in the house - and gradually ripen them right up to Christmas. So if you want to eat your own red tomatoes to mid-winter, give it a go. See more
