16.01.2022 To all the comedy fans in Canberra, You might have noticed that Canberra feels a little different this year with no signs or programs or social media posts about an exciting upcoming comedy festival. We wanted to let you know that we have made the difficult decision to not hold Canberra Comedy Festival at our usual time in March, due to the continued on-going health crisis, and associated challenges due to border closures. We are currently working hard to bring you some for...m of comedy in the later half of the year we will let you know our plans as they develop. It’s a tough time for the arts community as a whole, and we are still a long way from normal. We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back to our festival in the near future. This decision has been made in consultation with venues, prioritising the health of the community while there is uncertainty. Information about refunds or rescheduling will be provided as soon as possible through ticketing agencies. We appreciate your patience. 14.01.2022 Canberra Comedy Festival and its venues have paid close attention to the recent advice from the Council of Australian Governments that gatherings of 500 people or more should not go ahead from Monday 16 March. We are working with performers and our venues to proceed with shows where we can, in accordance with this advice, where attendance is under 500 people. However, due to the size of the Canberra Comedy Festival Gala (Tuesday 17 March) we have made the decision, in consult...ation with Canberra Theatre Centre, to reschedule this event to later in the year. Canberra Theatre Centre will be in contact with patrons in forthcoming days regarding the rescheduling, when a suitable date has been identified. Regrettably the outdoor events in Civic Square will also not proceed. We expect that there will be further changes to the program. Updates will be provided to ticket holders when we are able to confirm information about specific performances. You may have seen some artists making announcements on social media about the status of their shows. We will update our social media and website as information is confirmed. Subject to any further advice from government, we still look forward to putting on some great festival shows, and thank you for your support and patience as work though the many issues associated with safely delivering the festival.
