16.01.2022 ALERT!! LAMINITIS!! There has been an enormous jump in the number of call outs to horses and ponies showing signs of laminitis. Horses who show signs of laminitis walk very slowly or are reluctant to walk at all. If you do not know what the signs of laminitis are please see our attached link. Horses and ponies who are already over weight, for example those who you cannot see or feel their ribs, are overweight and are at a very high risk of laminitis if they are currently o...n 24/7 paddock turnout. If laminitis is not prevented or addressed aggressively and early on, there is a high chance your horse or pony will suffer from ongoing pain and may even require euthanasia. We hate seeing horses with this disease, which can be prevented. Please look after your horses and ponies during this spring and make sure you have a laminitis prevention and management plan in place. If you are unsure of what to do, or are confused about the large amount of information on the internet, please contact us to have a consultation with one of our vets so we can help you to make a plan that is safe and effective for your horse. Please follow the link to our website for further information on laminitis https://www.canberraequinehospital.com.au//laminitis-foun/

15.01.2022 We still have a few weight tapes left!! Be sure to come and grab one to be pro active about your horses weight as we have seen an alarming increase in laminitis in the last few weeks and not just in ponies. Don't wait until they are fat (Yes we said the F word) and have sore feet. #fword#greengrass#gottagoupagirthsize
