25.01.2022 Join us Wednesday 21st October at 8pm via zoom for a fantastic core workshop! Experienced personal trainer and holistic lifestyle coach, @tanyaacarroll turned her love of coaching people face to face (she lives in Melbourne and is currently still under restrictions that prohibit indoor coaching) into reaching people all across the Australia and the globe online, in easy to digest, 1 hour workshops on the topics of pelvic floor, core musculature and women’s health during and p...ost pregnancy. In this pivot Tanya was able to bring forward a long held dream to help eliminate the confusion and the myths that surround pelvic floor and core health, in an industry that has been focused on aesthetics rather than true function. In her practice Tanya found that one of the toughest questions new clients asked was ‘why is my pelvic floor not improving’ and the shame in admitting that the exercises they were previously given simply did not work. In these workshops, Tanya will take you on a journey to understanding your body and what exercises work and when they should or should not be used. She asks the questions that no-one else asks how does your pelvic floor feel when you are having sex, and for the men, are you leaking because by going there, you will understand that whilst many people are there with you, it is not normal to feel pain or to have limited control. Join Tanya in this workshop to finally get the right answers to your questions. The workshop is free of charge for current members. For anyone who is a non member that wants to join in it’s $15. 25.01.2022 Monday night talking to the Brutecamp crew, I made comment about being skinny fat. It started a whole conversation about the importance of strength training as we get older and I was really impressed that they knew lifting weights helped increase their bone density and help prevent osteoarthritis. Over the years I have heard so many people say things like, oh I don’t want to lift weights because I don’t want to get bulky or I just want to do cardio because I just want to l...ose weight. News flash peeps! If you want to reduce body fat, increase lean muscle mass or burn calories more efficiently then lift some weights. Ever heard the saying Use it or lose it Well lean muscle mass naturally diminishes as we age. You'll then increase the percentage of fat in your body if you don't do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose over time. Strength training can help you preserve and enhance your muscle mass at any age. It may also help you: Develop strong bones. By stressing your bones, strength training can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Manage your weight - can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories. Enhance your quality of life - may enhance your quality of life and improve your ability to do everyday activities. Building muscle can also contribute to better balance and may reduce your risk of falls. This can help you maintain independence as you age. Manage chronic conditions - can reduce the signs and symptoms of many chronic conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, obesity, heart disease, depression and diabetes. Sharpen your thinking skills. Some research suggests that regular strength training and aerobic exercise may help improve thinking and learning skills for older adults So there’s plenty of reason why you should be adding strength training into your workout routine. I’m slowly trying to get back into my running and I’m making the effort to incorporate strength training into my week or I know I’m going to end up injured. It is something I will prioritise. 21.01.2022 Here’s another delicious quick and easy breakfast meal for you to make at home Mix 4-6 tablespoons of chia seeds in a jar of 1 cup of almond milk and stir in about 2 teaspoons maple syrup. Refrigerate overnight. Stir a couple of times to prevent chia seeds from becoming clump like. 20.01.2022 Rise and shine, it’s workout time This one you’re going to need somewhere with a step or a low rise stool. 14min AMRAP every 2mins drop and do 5 burpees and pick up in the workout where you left off... 20 step up knee drives alt sides 15 jump forwards and jog backwards 10 DB front squats 5 tricep dips Keep repeating for 14mins and record how many rounds you did in the time Make sure you warm up and cool down and stretch with your workout. 19.01.2022 Friday night pizza night Master 4 year old wanted pizza. We can’t eat take away foods because of all our intolerances but let’s face it there is so much crap in takeout food so I make it all from scratch including the dough. Tonight’s version I had leftover baked potatoes and beetroot that I cooked earlier from my veggie garden and left over shredded chicken I needed to use up so I threw it on the pizza with some bacon and lactose free cheese. It was delicious!!... Can anyone else recommend some toppings I can try?

16.01.2022 I was craving all the munchies today after a very interesting 24hrs. I had some natural chorizo and did some searching for recipes and came across one that I could modify and OMG it was delicious! The bonus is both kids loved it too!! So here is a delicious Chorizo Hash that you can eat on its own or with some salad and a piece of meat. Ingredients:... 1 small onion diced finely 1 chorizo cut into moon halves 7 baby potatoes cut into pieces Salt and pepper Method: Bring to the boil a saucepan of water with salt. Once boiled place potatoes in and cook until potatoes are just tender. Drain and make sure the potatoes aren’t wet otherwise they won’t crisp up properly. Whilst potatoes are cooking dice the onion and chop the chorizo. Poor some olive oil in fry pan and cook the onion and chorizo until the chorizo is crispy. If your chorizo is oily don’t use so much olive oil. The natural chorizo I used is quite dry because it doesn’t have all the preservatives and sodium nitrate in it. Use a slotted spoon to pull onion and chorizo out of pan and keep oil in the pan. Pour the potatoes in the fry pan and cook until crispy. You can add some crushed garlic at this stage if you want. Place onion and chorizo back in pan, sprinkle with salt and pepper and heat up. And there you have it. Was cooked in 20mins time and so much flavour. 12.01.2022 Last week I shared an image of cookies I made and for people to comment if they wanted the recipe. I had so many people comment and I’m only now getting a moment to share the recipe with everyone. So without further waiting, here is the recipe for the Almond and tahini biscuits Ingredients:... 2 cups almond meal 3/4 cup tahini 1/2 cup maple syrup 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Optional: can add cacao chips if you want Method: 1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees for convection oven or 150 degrees for fan forced. Line a tray with baking paper. 2. Place tahini, maple syrup, salt and vanilla in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Heat for a few minutes, stirring constantly until smooth and blended. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes. 3. Add almond meal to the tahini maple mixture and mix until a rough dough forms. 4. Roll 1-2 tablespoons worth of the dough in the palm of your hands into a ball. Place on the prepared tray and flatten slightly with your fingertips. 5. If using cacao chips, place on top of the cookie and push in slightly. Bake in the pre-heated oven for approximately 10 minutes. Switch off the oven and let the cookies brown slightly in the hot oven for another 5 minutes before removing. 6. Cool on wire racks. Store in air tight containers at room temperature for up to a week. I had had my children some time ago, and I was wanting to improving my health, become fitter and lose weight some 12 years after having my children. Cherry tomatoes Bacon Baby spinach Oil to cook (I used coconut oil) Salt and pepper to taste Chop everything up, heat pan and add oil. Start off by cooking your onion, then tomatoes and bacon. Once they’re cooked to your liking, add baby spinach and continue to cook until wilted. You can add whatever fruit you want on top as well or add some nuts for some protein. Here are some benefits of cinnamon: Cinnamon contains large amounts of highly potent polyphenol antioxidants. The antioxidants in cinnamon have anti-inflammatory effects, which may help lower your risk of disease.
