22.01.2022 #FunFactFriday Did you know... every work group working on or near the light rail network must ensure the safety of the workers involved. CMET regularly use lookouts to help ensure safe working of team members. The lookout notifies the work group of an on-coming LRV and moves the group to a safe place. You might have noticed the lookout before; they wear a yellow safety vest, instead of the industry standard orange.

18.01.2022 As part of this years #RailSafetyWeek initiative, CMET coordinated a real-life simulated collision scenario where representatives from ACT Policing and ACT Emergency Services Agency enacted the sequence of events after a pedestrian was struck and trapped by a light rail vehicle (LRV). The incident was run as a training exercise and even included students from Gungahlin College ACT Public Schools acting as injured passengers travelling on board. Transport Canberra, CMET, Emergency Services, ACT Policing and media in attendance as part of exercise.... Normal bus and light rail services will continue to operate during the exercise. The southbound lane within Gungahlin Place will be restricted to buses only. Some pedestrian areas are closed off around training exercise. Attendance at the exercise is restricted due to COVID-19.
