22.01.2022 A newbie to our plant availability this season is this beauty! Grevillea wilkinsonii or the Tumut Grevillea. Endangered in the wild, coming from two populations near Tumut, its lovely purple-pink toothbrush flowers (which birdies and bees love!) appear from spring to summer. A medium shrub to about 2m... it loves the sun and good drainage. We accidentally left this one off our last Instagram post of our plant list (as well as Grevillea arenaria)... but you can find the amended list now on our Facebook menu or website. #tumut #tumutgrevillea #grevillea #grevilleawilkinsonii #australiannativeplants #australianflora #canberra

22.01.2022 How good are the Dianella this year! This one is our local... Dianella revoluta, or Black Anthered Flax-Lily. You can tell by the black ends of the stamens or pointy bits (boy bits) coming out of the flower. Other Dianella (like the various coastal species) don't have the black ends. Our local does. A great little tough 'grass' for borders or filling. And the blue berries are edible, albeit somewhat acidic...best left for the wildlife! #dianella #dianellarevoluta #australiannativeplants #australianflora #australianwildflowers #canberragarden #canberra #queanbeyan #carwoola #habitatgarden #canberragarden

22.01.2022 So tomorrow at the EPIC Farmers Markets it’s gunna be white native daisies as far as the eye can see! Gunna have a bunch of Brachyscome multifida white form (this bad boy in the pic) and Brachyscome diversifolia ssp maritima or ‘Whitewash’ from Tassie. Both clumping daisies that are great for borders, filling spaces and pots. Clumps to around 50cm wide. Loves sun to part shade and a bit of a hit with the hose in dry times. And native daisies are loved by bees and native pollinators and awesome to have near your fruit trees and vege patch when you need buzz pollinators! #brachsycome #brachyscomemultifida #australiandaisies #australiannativeplants #australianflora #canberra #queanbeyan #habitatgarden #beefriendly @crfarmersmarket

21.01.2022 Oh lovely...! This is an interesting IWD piece on our great wattles!

20.01.2022 Have you hacked and fed your tall kangaroo paws yet (flavidus & hybrids)? Time to do it here in the next week or two! Pruning off the old and frost damaged foliage hard ... and then feeding them seaweed solution and a good native liquid fertiliser is going to have it pushing up terrifically green and lush foliage and a plant with more blooms! Don’t be afraid! And consult the many articles by Angus Stewart on how to take of your paws! This is how hard we prune our ‘Big Reds’ each year. #Anigozanthos #kangaroopaw #AustralianNativePlants #Pruning #australiannatives #Carwoola #Canberra #Queanbeyan Angus Stewart

19.01.2022 So this week we’re at the EPIC Farmers Markets come hell or high water (probably the latter! ) And if our creek floods, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it! (pun intended! ). 08.01.2022 Although it's a glorious day today... it's gunna change tomorrow, especially in the afternoon when it's forecast for heavy rain and storms, when we're returning to our rural property after the farmers markets. And given the creek at the bottom of our rural drive tends to flood in storm surges (and is impassable without a beast like this)... we've had to make the call to be a no show at the markets tomorrow. For those who have ordered plants for collection, I'll be in t...ouch with you directly. But there's still plenty of spring left to get your plants! Like all November and usually the first week or so of December is awesome planting weather (especially with our welcome friend La Niña!) So swings and roundabouts! And you are always welcome to order and collect plants from the nursery by appointment. Just send us a written message on Facebook, Insta, Text or Email... and we'll sort it out! #Canberra #AustralianNativePlants #Carwoola Capital Region Farmers Market, Canberra See more

06.01.2022 So on Tuesday it’s National Eucalypt Day! (23/3/2021) Eucalypts are the backbone of so many ecosystems in Australia and occur throughout our vast brown land. Adapted to our landscape, there’s one for every setting. Including dwarf ones for small gardens (which can be coppiced or pruned hard if you need to!) And of course gums support an abundance of our local wildlife and pollinators! #nationaleucalyptday #eucalyptus #eucbeaut #canberra #australiannativeplants #australiangardens #habitatgarden Eucalypt Australia Capital Region Farmers Market, Canberra

05.01.2022 Boom. Show stopped. Crowea 'Festival' exploding into deep pink this week...! A terrific little shrub about 1m round that thrives in many spots, from filtered light through trees, to full sun.... and flowers for a long period in the warmer months. Likes reasonable drainage. Otherwise maintenance free...but responds to a good pruning. Loved by pollinating insects of all kinds. We'll have these bad boys at the EPIC Farmers Markets tomorrow morning, just in time for Xmas! #crowea #croweafestival #beefriendly #pollinators #habitatgarden #australiannatives #australiannativeplants #australianflora #canberra #queanbeyan #canberragarden Capital Region Farmers Market, Canberra

01.01.2022 So here's our plant availability list of all plants available from 15/10/2020 until end summer. Please note, due to unprecedented demand in 2020, our stock levels are pretty dynamic. We grow our own stock on site ... so while we are constantly growing up new batches, we occasionally run out of high demand lines. We are happy to take your orders, and you are welcome to pick up at the EPIC farmers markets on Saturdays... or you can get delivered or pick up by appointment. You can also find this list under "Menu" on our Facebook page. #australiannativeplants #canberra #canberranativenursery ANPS Canberra - Native Plant Sales
