24.01.2022 WELL DONE CLAYTON! This brave young Nipper rescued five adults caught in a rip at an unpatrolled beach in northern NSW. When he saw they were in trouble, his Nippers training kicked in and he instinctively knew what to do. Nippers is not only fun, it teaches kids vital water safety/survival skills that truly do save lives.

20.01.2022 I’ve know Gordon Harris since I was in year 8 when he was my science teacher. Gordon has dedicated so much of his time and efforts into the Broulee Surfers Surf Lifesaving Club, and I know he will be sorely missed.

20.01.2022 The Far South Coast Branch SLSNSW cleaned up at this year’s SLSNSW Awards for Excellence, winning the Branch of the year, Volunteer of the year, Award for Innovation and the President’s Award. I can only imagine the noise levels at the FSC Branch table on the night!! Congratulations to the award winners, and everyone in the Branch. You deserve it!

17.01.2022 It’s the time of year that we all need to think of our safety around water - both at the beach, and inland waterways.

17.01.2022 I can’t foresee too many Canberrans heading to the beach in this weather, but if you are going down the coast, please make sure you stay safe and away from the water in this weather. https://www.facebook.com/490921941107731/posts/1339684302898153?s=550527781&sfns=mo

12.01.2022 The home of the Canberra Nippers! Some things change, and some things stay the same. The COP has a little bit of both. It’s still so recognisable - a little bit of Canberra (not so old) history in amongst the city hustle and bustle. It’s quite the oasis!

11.01.2022 Well done, Moruya Surf Club! Can everyone on this page please click on the link and vote for their program?

05.01.2022 If you are down the coast of holidays, you might want to consider coming back early, otherwise all routes back might be cut off from the fires. PLEASE STAY SAFE.

04.01.2022 This is incredibly sad. So many surf lifesavers around Australia put their own lives on the line to save others. This time, their lives were lost. These men were so selfless and brave.

02.01.2022 I know it’s the middle of winter and going for a swim is probably the absolute last thing on your minds, but this article really affected me when I read it a few years back. It describes how when people are drowning, they don’t react as you would think. Someone might be drowning near you, but because they typically don’t yell for help, you might not notice. It is worth a read.

02.01.2022 Isn’t it incredible to see the Nippers branching out to other countries? It is such an incredible program - and we are so lucky to have two of our very own Canberra Nippers clubs right here in Canberra!

01.01.2022 Interesting story: This photo is of the death mask of a young woman who drowned in the River Seine in the 1880s, a suspected suicide. The pathologist on duty became entranced by this unidentified young woman with the enigmatic half-smile, so he commissioned a plaster cast of her face. She became known as "L'Inconnue de la Seine, or The Unknown Woman of the Seine. In 1955, a toymaker named Asmund Laerdal, along with physicians Peter Safar and James Elam, created what we n...ow know as the CPR doll. Asmund wanted his mannequin to have a natural appearance, and remembering a mask on the wall of his grandparents' house years before, he decided that the L'Inconnue de la Seine would become the face of Resusci Anne, also known as Rescue Anne. Rescue Anne and her offshoot, Little Annie have played a monumental role in teaching resuscitation skills to people all over the world, and through this, countless lives have been saved.
