22.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all of those amazing women out there who have raised us and fill our lives with love!

20.01.2022 Thank you all for your amazing donations recently! We have received wipes and nappies which have now been passed on to Karinya House. A lot of organisations we support have had to close their doors due to Corona which is heart breaking! But as soon as those doors open we will be out distributing packs to our community! If you know an organisation who would like to receive monthly sanitary packs we would love to hear ftom them!

Also here is an great article from the ABC about this: https://www.abc.net.au//menstrual-cycle-taboo-hol/8996526

05.01.2022 VOLUNTEERS & STORAGE LOCATION NEEDED The Canberra Period Project is looking for heart centred people who are keen to support our homeless with love and kindness. We're currently looking for people to fill the following roles:... 1 x MANAGER Support and manage the Coordination Members and Packing Day Volunteers. Work with our Agencies and drop off locations. The Manager is responsible for all CPP operations in liaison with the Coordination Members, which includes: dropping off period packs to our agencies, collecting donations, managing collection points, managing social media accounts, managing packing days and training volunteers on how to pack. COORDINATON MEMBERS Support the CPP Manager, attend packing days, train volunteers on how to pack, administer the social media accounts, collect donations and engage with our drop off locations. Our Coordination Members bring their own skills to this role and therefore take on what they're best suited to. This is discussed and agreed to with the Manager. STORAGE LOCATION We're also looking for a storage location where our stock would be secure, that we could access and possibly host packing days at. Please comment below or send us a PM, if you can help, we'd really love to hear from you.

01.01.2022 MORE HOUSING OPTIONS FOR OUR HOMELESS CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn continue their incredible work with the community in June by opening up accommodation in Lyneham for homeless women, including mothers and children. Also, their two year pilot program Axial House which introduces the 'housing first' model to Canberra, has proven to be super successful in Europe, and is operating in Brisbane and Adelaide, has the potential to revolutionise the homeless crisis. ... There are approximately 116,000 people rough-sleeping or homeless on any given night in Australia, so its great to see this organisation taking a different tact, trying something new and being there for any human. You can read more about these amazing initiatives in the article below, and give this post a like to cheer them on! https://www.catholicvoice.org.au/from-sleeping-rough-to-sl/

01.01.2022 Creating compassion and more understanding - to create more love Our world has so many beautiful aspects, people, opportunities etc. and these doors only open when we open. The Darlington Statement was created in March 2017 to address key challenges faced by the Intersex community, primarily related to:... - Human rights and legal reform - Health & Wellbeing (predominately the long-term physical and psychological implication of harmful and continuing medical practices) - Peer support (addressing trauma and mental health concerns caused by the unnecessary medicalisation of intersex people as well as the stigmatisation of intersex characteristics) - The need for allies focusing on acknowledgement of the distinctiveness and diversity within the intersex community; support of human rights claims, respect for human rights movement without tokenism nothing about us without us Within employment, The Darlington Statement calls for: - The development of content with intersex-led organisation and the promotion of delivery by intersex people. - Accommodations and reasonable adjustments including special needs requirements, workplace adjustments, job access assistance and provision of medical leave. - Working with intersex-led organisations to improve understanding of intersex people and human rights issues. Opening our hearts creates more love and understanding in the world - and this is something we all need more of xo http://www.prideinclusionprograms.com.au//Darlington-State
