24.01.2022 Wonderful Wednesday Meeting The next meeting is this Wednesday, 20 November, in the Hall at the Cook Community Hub, from 9.30am until 12.30pm. This is the last WW meeting of the year, so it has a Christmas theme. Please bring a small plate of food to share. Decorate your table! Dress up for Christmas! It is followed by a drop-in at the Canberra Quilters room. The library is open for the first half of the drop-in. This drop-in is also when the Appliqu Group meets. The Appliqu... Group is for members who like to do appliqu learning from each other, getting help or working on a current project. You dont have to be part of this group to come to the drop-in. Dont forget to bring something for show & tell. For new members, Wonderful Wednesday is held on the third Wednesday of each month except December, normally in the Hub Hall from 9.30am till 12.30pm. It is a good opportunity to do some handwork and meet for a chat. We have Raffles, Lucky Door Prize, and Name Badge Draw, some of the most wonderful morning tea fare and a themed Show and Tell plus the regular Show and Tell. If you are a newcomer or you havent been for a while PLEASE come and sit at Christines table (WW convener) where ever that may be, until you get better acquainted with the other members.

For those of you who were unable to go to the library day on Tuesday, another Library session is planned for the room tomorrow, Saturday, 18 July (10am-2pm). Borrowing will be permitted - members will be asked to do this quickly as only a few members will be able to access the cupboards at any one time due to spacing restrictions. 20.01.2022 Friday feelgood ANU MakerSpace was chuffed to receive this lovely note from Kerry, one of 70 volunteer quilters from the Canberra region assisting to make f...ace masks. Thanks to the designs and people-power of ANU School of Art & Design friends and alumni, as well as Canberra Quilters, these masks are supporting safety in GP practices and pharmacies. In addition any QFO completed quilts can be left in the trug in the back vestibule. (There will not be any QFO committee members present.)

08.01.2022 Chooks everywhere! We ended up with about 70 chooks for our Market Garden display and along with a chook yard back drop and some amazing felt fruit and vegetables our display for the Royal Canberra Show attracted many comments. Thank you to everyone who contributed. The theme for 2021 is High Tea. Shall we all make quilted teapots? - Valerie Merritt, Chief Steward, Royal Canberra Show and proud owner of a garage of stuffed chooks.
