14.01.2022 This gem spotted in the QLD writer's centre e"newsletter I subscribe to: For a different (more entertaining) way to test whether your sentence is passive, try adding ‘by zombies’ to the end. If it still makes sense, you’re writing in the passive voice. I didn’t notice the signature on the front cover until the book was knocked from the bench (by zombies). This is written in the passive voice. ... I didn’t notice the signature on the front cover until I knocked the book from the bench. This is written in the active voice, without a zombie in sight."
