14.01.2022 Introducing Dr. CHAMIL DAYAJEEWA MBBS, MD (Ophth), FRCS(Glasg), FRANZCO Dr. Chamil Dayajeewa is a well-qualified, experienced, competent Ophthalmologist based in Canberra with sub-specialty interests in cataract surgery, medical retina, and glaucoma.... He graduated from the University of Colombo Sri Lanka in the year 2000. He then entered specialist training in Ophthalmology in Sri Lanka and completed his basic and advanced training in Ophthalmology in 2007. Dr. Dayajeewa undertook two years of further fellowship training in the United Kingdom in General Ophthalmology with experience in cataract, glaucoma, and medical retina conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis. Following his training in the United Kingdom, he returned to Sri Lanka to work as a General Ophthalmologist in a regional hospital. After providing nearly 3 years of comprehensive care for a remote community in Sri Lanka he migrated in 2013 to Australia as an Ophthalmologist at the Canberra Hospital. He continues to work there as a Staff Specialist and also contributes to teaching at the Australian National University (ANU). Dr. Dayajeewa holds Fellowships from the Sri Lankan College of Ophthalmologist (COSL), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG), and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). Dr. Dayajeewa now provides private consultations in his new state-of-the-art rooms Canberra Vision Clinic at suite 6 in The Calvary Clinic opposite the Emergency Department of Calvary Hospital. He offers his services to patients with the following general ophthalmic conditions. - Eye emergencies. - Surgeries for cataracts, pterygia, and lid pathologies. - Intravitreal anti-VEGF injections/treatments for wet macular degeneration (AMD), Diabetic maculopathy, and retinal vein occlusions -Treatment for glaucoma, uveitis, medical retina conditions - Neuro-ophthalmic and other general ophthalmic conditions.
