22.01.2022 Why is there a Cockerel on the Kellogs Corn Flakes box? Apparently, Nancy Richards, a Welsh harpist, was visiting the the Kellog family in the USA in the 1920's and pointed out that the name Kellog was similar to 'ceiliog', Welsh for cockerel. Hence the cockerel that still appears on the box of Corn Flakes!

13.01.2022 More unexpected spin-offs from Covid-19! Since offering free online taster courses in mid-March, 8,300 new learners followed the National Welsh Learning Centre's digital courses - swamping their initial target of 100 and making finding enough tutors a real challenge! Learning Welsh on the Duolingo app is now more popular in the UK than Mandarin. Visits to the Open University website from Wales rose from 64,000 in March to 120,000 in April. Among the ten most popular courses on their website, Welsh for beginners was at the top!
