24.01.2022 Why does Carol Penstone ride? For many reasons, but mostly importantly love. Carol's husband, Bill, was only 42 years old when he was diagnosed with an incurable form of brain cancer. From that point everything changed, but Bill's positivity and courage remained. After seven surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, cancer took Bill's life. ... For Carol, life will never be the same. Carol and Bill met when they were 17, grew up together, got married and had four children. But while Carol can't change the past, she is determined to help change the future for others living with cancer. With your help, we're working toward a future that spares families the loss of a loved one. Every donation gets us one step closer to lifesaving cancer breakthroughs, and your support is making a huge difference. Thank you.

10.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we share the loss of a much-loved member of our Ride family. On Thursday August 27th, Carol Abramo passed away after a courageous 6-year battle with breast cancer. Carol was a huge supporter of the Ride, and a strong advocate for cancer research. With her infectious smile and never-give-up attitude, she has inspired countless riders and members of the community.... Carol was as kind as she was tough. Even while undergoing cancer treatment, Carol rode in 2017s Ride to Conquer Cancer on an electric bike along with her team, You Can Do Fit. The following year, Carols treatment left her too ill to ride on her own. But in one of the most awe-inspiring moments in the history of the Ride, Carol decided that nothing would stop her from taking part in the Ride - not even cancer. That weekend, she rode in the event in the front of a trishaw ridden by her son, Dean. Carol was a vocal supporter of research trials, and credits a recent trial with allowing her more time with her family and friends. Carol will be missed for her kindness, wonderful hugs, and endless determination. A fierce advocate for cancer research, your support for the Ride will help to carry on Carols incredible legacy, in the hope that, one day, we will not have to lose another friend or loved one to this terrible disease. Please join us in extending your love and support to Carols family and friends in this difficult time.

08.01.2022 We are deeply saddened to share the loss of a beloved member of the Ride family and friend to many. On Wednesday 9th December, FiTi50 team captain and 9-year rider Victor Hugo lost his battle with oesophageal cancer. Victor was the embodiment of kindness and determination. He rode in memory of his dear friend Kathy Bunce, the first team captain of FiTi50, and in 2019 dedicated his Honour Roll kilometre in her name. Ever a fighter, Victor tried his hardest not to let cancer ...slow him down. Despite undergoing treatment, Victor rode 5kms in this year's MACA Cancer 200 and fulfilled a longstanding promise to the Ride's Moke Crew, that if ever he were unable to complete 200kms, he would wear a cow costume in support of their wonderful cheering efforts. True to his word, Victor showed up in costume. To say that Victor will be deeply missed is an understatement. The Ride will not be the same without his compassion and great sense of humour. It's because of Victor that we ride, and will continue to seek answers and work toward breakthroughs in his honour. Please join us in sending your love and support to Victor's wife Caitriona, and his family and friends in this very difficult time.

05.01.2022 Today, we'd like to say a huge thank you to MACA Founder and Director Geoff Baker, and the whole team at MACA for their outstanding support this year. Despite the challenging circumstances that 2020 has brought, Geoff and the MACA team chose to double down on their commitment to taking part in the MACA Cancer 200 and funding cancer research. Together, MACA teams combined have raised $1.7 million for vital cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in ...this year's MACA Cancer 200 Challenge - an incredible outcome, and a true testament to their passion and determination. MACA, you are our treasured title sponsor and fiercest advocate. And Geoff, you are amazing - we hope you like the small token of our appreciation that Steve delivered today. Thank you for all that you do for the Perkins.

04.01.2022 Are you riding with a yellow flag this year? If you are, you're part of a group of people who have been diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives. Some of you will have battled cancer in the past, and some of you are fighting cancer now. For Steve Williams, prostate cancer first became part of his life 10 years ago. He gets diagnosed, then treated, it looks successful and then it's back again - this is the cycle that Steve and his family have been living with for the past decade. Steve and his wife Jenny are choosing to hop on their blue tandem and raise vital funds for better outcomes, kinder treatments, and one day, a cure. Steve may have a few flags flying this year, but he rides for a future where there will be fewer yellow flags for others.

03.01.2022 Riders, we'd love to hear your thoughts! Last year we made some pretty big changes to the Ride, including the name change from the Ride to Conquer Cancer to the MACA Cancer 200 and taking the Ride in-house to the Perkins. We want to hear how your Ride experience changed in 2019 from previous years - let us know in the comments below!

01.01.2022 This is why we ride. At the age of just 26, Kane Blackburn was diagnosed with a blood cancer which has just a 30% survival rate. Five years on, Kane will be riding in the MACA Cancer 200 Challenge this October to support vital cancer research at the Perkins. Watch the video below to hear part of Kane's speech from the 2019 MACA Cancer 200.
