The time to stop skin cancer is before it starts, so remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide this summer, and encourage your children to do the same. Do you miss getting film developed? Tell us below.
21.01.2022 Once you hear the jingle, it’s hard to get it out of your head. Cancer Council first brought Sid Seagull onto our screens in the 1980s, and today, his message is as important as ever. This National Skin Cancer Action Week, we’re teaming with the Australian College of Dermatologists to bring him back, and encourage all those ‘80s kids who are now parents themselves to Stay SunSmart this summer. A lot has changed since the ‘80s, but it’s still the same sun. UV radiation is just as dangerous, and sun protection is still the best defence against skin cancer.

14.01.2022 This week is NAIDOC week, an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2020 theme Always Was, Always Will Be acknowledges the hundreds of Nations and cultures across our country and recognises that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. The team at Cancer Council Australia were lucky enough to be joined by Yatu Widde...rs Hunt this week for an insightful discussion and have continued to live out her teachings of always listening and always learning. We are proud to be supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia who have been affected by cancer. Please visit our website for more information about cancer prevention, treatment and support. #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe

11.01.2022 Cervical Cancer has impacted almost every aspect of my life. Kirsty was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer at age 26 and was shocked when she needed surgery to remove her cervix and lymph nodes as treatment. Kirsty’s cancer was detected during a routine cervical screening test and following treatment, she beat the odds and was able to give birth to a baby. ... Kirsty says Even if you have been vaccinated, go and get a screening test because we can lead the world in eliminating cervical cancer. We’ve got everything in place, but only if we go and use it. 06.01.2022 Kids these days will never understand the pain of rewinding VHS tapes before taking them back to the video store! Things have definitely changed since the 80’s, but this National Skin Cancer Action Week we’re reminding Aussies that it’s still the same sun. Whenever the UV index is 3 or above, you need to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide. Post your favourite ‘80s movies below!
05.01.2022 Remember the days when you’d have to check the TV guide to see what was on? Some things might’ve changed since the ‘80s, but UV exposure is still the single greatest risk factor for skin cancer. Post your favourite ‘80s TV shows below!
