17.01.2022 Meet Michael Michael signed up for his best friend Jay, who is only 39 and has stage 4 ocular melanoma- they are life long friends Unfortunately, Michael's cousin and mother in law have cancer too, which is why it's important to his family that research is funded to create treatments and support for patients... 15.01.2022 Cancer Council NSW's Improve your long game is a free sun protection program, targeting male golfers aged 40+ in NSW golf clubs The program aims to improve sun protection behaviours of golfers by providing free sunscreen at the 1st and 10th tee, information and resources to help reduce skin cancer risk. 10.01.2022 Congratulations to the Bundaberg Golf Club- Bundaberg Golf Course staff and members who took on #TheLongestDay last month and raised over $3,000! We asked Club Teaching Professional, Mick Murnane if he had any fundraising tips to share: Our Club members are keen to share our posts on social media and help us spread the word to gather donations. We had a cake drive organised for the weekend to help boost our fundraising and are taking donations from local businesses offeri...ng support too. We’re a community focused Club and it’s great to see locals backing us as we take on the challenge. Why did the team decide to participate this year? "To raise awareness of cancer, especially skin cancer, which can be a big issue for golfers. It’s a new challenge for us, and a chance to raise money for a good cause."

Team Spider Pigs took on the ultimate golf challenge on 5 December and here's their advice for the day: ‘We recommend drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated through the day, save the celebrating for after the 72 holes.’ ... ‘For all of us, cancer has hit very close to home. Myself, Matthew and Sean lost our pop to lung cancer. Sean is our cousin and both of our mothers have had cancer. ‘For all of us cancer has hit very close to home. Myself, Matthew and Sean lost our pop to lung cancer. Sean is our cousin and both of our mothers have had cancer. Mine and Matthew’s have now had it twice. As for Daniel he lost his father to liver cancer a couple of days into this year. There can never be enough support and all the funds we can raise will help’ Thanks team Spider Pigs

We are looking forward to being a host Club for 2020 and being there for the start of the 72 holes and welcoming the golfers back in at the end of the day!'

02.01.2022 Shoutout to Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club who booked out two days for The Longest Day last year and topped the National Club leaderboard to raise a whopping $101,548 We got in touch with Events Manager Vicki who said, ‘ we've been long term supporters of Cancer Council, and their prevention program Improve Your Long Game has educated our members about skin cancer prevention. Then we heard about The Longest Day and knew we had to be involved! It's such an enjoyable day for a great cause, we got some awesome raffle prizes donated and finished the day off with a dinner to celebrate.’ A big THANK YOU for your continued support Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club!

Started just before 6.30am and finished after 8pm. We were tired and footsore but with smiles on our faces.' 01.01.2022 Meet Tahnia from Golf NSW "I wanted to do The Longest Day challenge because I think it’s such a great concept and all for a good cause. I wanted to get everyone from work involved as we are the representative body for Golf in NSW and wanted to show our support. I participated in The Longest Day last year for the first time and it was a huge challenge that I loved and wanted to do it again this year. Some of our team have also participated before and we were all up for the... challenge. We were most looking forward to a day out on the golf course with all of our colleagues, enjoying the day knowing we were doing it all for a great cause and raising money to help toward a cancer free future.''
