24.01.2022 A lot has changed since Stacey's childhood, but it’s still the same sun. Protect your skin this summer by staying SunSmart. Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses.

24.01.2022 Government property is no place for advertising junk food to kids. Today, WA’s leading health agencies call on the State Government to immediately end junk food advertising on government property, following the release of a compelling report that shows it is not only feasible, but is essential in protecting WA kids from the predatory tactics of the junk food industry. 23.01.2022 A special thank you to the Dry July Foundation for supporting Cancer Council through the Dry July campaign Since 2019, funds raised through Dry July have gone towards funding our vital 13 11 20 Information and Support Line where our Cancer Nurses provide confidential cancer information and support to more than 41,000 Australians every year. 21.01.2022 Globally, over 300,000 women die from cervical cancer each year, and close to 90% of these deaths worldwide occur in low- and middle-income countries. In some of the poorest countries in the world, cervical cancer is the leading cause of cancer death, yet we know cervical cancer is both preventable and treatable. This week, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched a strategy for the global elimination of cervical cancer and implementation of national cervical cancer control plans. 21.01.2022 Once you hear the jingle, it’s hard to get it out of your head. Cancer Council first brought Sid Seagull onto our screens in the 1980s, and today, his message is as important as ever. This National Skin Cancer Action Week, we’re teaming with the Australasian College of Dermatologists to bring him back and encourage all those ‘80s kids who are now parents themselves to stay SunSmart this summer. A lot has changed since the ‘80s, but it’s still the same sun. UV radiation is ju...st as dangerous, and sun protection is still the best defence against skin cancer. 09.01.2022 To celebrate today, the first and only 13 11 20 Day, we’d like to showcase what our Cancer Nurses behind the 13 11 20 Information and Support Line do. Meet RosemerryRosemerry is an oncology nurse with over 35 years of nursing experience and is passionate about making sure no one has to go through a cancer diagnosis alone. It is a privilege to be a cancer nurse working on the 13 11 20 Cancer Information and Support Line, and to speak to West Australians affected by cancer... giving them emotional and practical support at a difficult time in their lives. It is the conversations I have and the difference I can make in the lives of those affected by a cancer diagnosis by providing them with cancer information, access to our support programs and services, wellbeing after cancer program, and referrals to other support groups that makes every day I come to work special. Rosemerry is just one of our Cancer Nurses in our WA support team who help West Australians affected by cancer every day. With the diagnosis came enormous financial strain, having just bought a home and started a new job as a teacher’s assistant.
