11.01.2022 I became a radiographer straight after leaving school because I was always interested in science and wanted to do something to help people. A typical day at Bre...astScreen NSW involves meeting lots of women coming in for their mammograms. Sometimes groups of women come in together, afterwards heading off for coffee or a lunch date, which is so nice to see. The biggest thing I have learnt in my job is that behind every mammogram is a woman. I must listen and understand each woman so that I can gain their trust and do my best. Some will be relaxed, and we can have a laugh, others will be anxious and need reassurance, and some will be coming for the first time and dont know what to expect. Every woman deserves my best effort. I am so proud to be part of this service for women and to have their appreciation for what we do. To a woman who is hesitant to get a mammogram, I would say please come along and give us a chance. We are here to look after you and guide you through it no matter what the concern is. It is just so important to have your regular mammograms. It could save your life. Tracey Radiographer, BreastScreen NSW Hunter New England
